Matt Damon continues as the agent trying to fill in the gaps in his memory in this fast paced and intriguing sequel and it's always interesting to see other sleeper agents being activated and then swiftly dispatched by Bourne, a very solid sequel that pulls you into the very strong storyline, it's what Bond should be and is trying hard to catch up.

Beth is less than thrilled when her husband, Matt, announces they are moving to Washington, DC. Beth loves New York City and all that comes with it, and DC is an intense culture shock. Matt is involved with President Obama's campaign and the couple's life revolves completely around politics. Beth, a writer, tires easily of the endless business talk and her husband's obsession with politics and the DC scene. Soon Matt and Beth meet Jimmy and Ashleigh. Jimmy works at the White House as well. The couples become fast friends, sharing meals, parties, and vacations. But as Jimmy raises in the ranks in politics, the friendship becomes quickly threatened by jealousy.

I was intrigued by the premise of this book--a relationship set to the backdrop of the Obama campaign and administration. Living close to the DC area, I can say that Close's description of many DC citizens is spot on: the Blackberrys, the obsession with security clearance and work standing, the fashion. She's excellent at weaving a story in the details.

The problem, however, is that Beth--the novel's narrator--is just so dull. She's beyond passive, willing to watch life unravel as she watches. It doesn't seem as if Beth is interested in anything, beyond whining. After a while, I just became so frustrated with her, I wanted to scream. It doesn't help that her husband, Matt, is similarly self-absorbed, and Jimmy and Ashleigh aren't any more likable. The book sort of bumps along, with no real movement to swing it along, or a character with any redeeming quality of any sort (good or bad). Even the DC details can't save this often frustrating novel from its own irksome and passive characters. 2.5 stars.

178. Some Freaks. A pretty decent little drama about young life, and young love and the way it just kicks you in the fucking balls at times. Meet Matt (played by a guy named Thomas Mann, that I'm pretty sure has been in teen dramas as a teen for the past 20 to 40 years) he has got one eyeball, even wears an eyepatch, pretty badass, but he's in high school, and high schoolers are dicks, and do anything possible to make his life shittier, daily. One day, he gets a new lab partner named Jill, and she goes through her own high school torture because shes overweight. I wouldnt say they hit it off right away, but things click, and they fall in love. Then high school ends. Jill goes off to college and Matt goes to work. 6 months pass and the two plan too meet... All the while the two have secrets to share... He no longer has only one eye, sorta. And Jill worked out like a fiend and shed 50 or so pounds, and of course they both are like wow, and both dig what they're seeing. But Matt also notices other dudes checking out his special lady friend, that wouldnt be so bad, but maybe shes digging the attention too much, or is Matt just a dumbell... Could go either way. It was a really cool flick, does not have the fairy tail ending thats too be expected most of the times... And uh-oh, its filmed in Rhode Island, don't really see to much of it, except they do go to the AS220, and some gorgeous shots of TF Green Airport... I'm just kidding there cant possibly be any gorgeous shots of TF Green lol. Check it out, it was a good drama... Filmbufftim on FB

Story: A Walk Among the Tombstones starts by in 1991 we meet Matt Scudder (Neeson) a nonsense detective who while having his morning Irish coffee ends up going into a shootout. Flash forward to 1999 Matt is now a private investigator and when a former junkie Peter Kristo (Holbrook) invites him to meet his brother Kenny (Stevens) for a job. Kenny’s wife was kidnapped with the ransom paid and murdered; he wants Matt to bring him the names of the people responsible. Matt rejects the offer wisely because it would involving working with a drug trafficker but Kenny won’t take no for an answer.

Kenny tales the story of what happened and how gruesome the murder was, this brings Matt into the case to track down the people responsible. Using all his skills he starts the investigation by questioning the locals. The killers prove to be professionals who cover their tracks when committing their crimes. When it becomes apparent they have been doing this for years Matt finds himself investigating cold cases. Tracking down the leads he does come up with a potential name and a place he could meet them, but nothing could prepare him for the nature of the men.

A Walk Among the Tombstones starts very nicely with the broken protagonist trying to make up for something he could never actually make up for, it is hidden from us but we do see he has personal problems. The whole drug dealers being targeting by serial killers also works nicely, giving us a chance to keep guessing on whether it is actually a large scale revenge type thriller than Matt is stuck in the middle off. It goes downhill slowly because of the pace and then turning it into the simple idea that they are just two killers doing it for fun. It is sad because this had a lot of potential from the start but in the end just fizzles out. (6/10)

Actor Review

Liam Neeson: Matt Scudder a private detective who against his better judgment ends up investigating serial killers who enjoy nothing more than kidnapping and killing their victim even if they get their money. He is a former detective who has been recovering from his alcoholism which cost him his job. Liam does do a good job in the role and goes away from the new action star he has created. (7/10)

 matt

Dan Stevens: Kenny Kristo drug trafficker whose wife was killed and hires Matt to find the people responsible for it, it will mean risking his connection to help expose the truth. Dan does a good job as the mobster out for revenge for a crime that is personal rather than work related. (7/10)

Support Cast: A Walk Among the Tombstones has a supporting cast that includes the two killers who are very much evil in what they do, we have other mobsters who are the victims of those killers and we also have a street wise kid trying to help Mark out. They all help the story flow along very well.

Director Review: Scott Frank – Scott does a solid job directing this to make it an interesting thriller with a very dark side to it. (6/10)

Crime: A Walk Among the Tombstones enters into the crime world without going too far over the top with its double crossing, instead focusing on one angle the whole way through. (7/10)

Mystery: A Walk Among the Tombstones does keep you guessing to what would be the motives of the characters creating a nice mystery about the story. (8/10)

Thriller: A Walk Among the Tombstones starts off pulling you in especially when you hear about the murdered wife but afterwards slight starts to fade away. (7/10)

Settings: A Walk Among the Tombstones creates a world that is similar to 1999 New York. (7/10)

Suggestion: A Walk Among the Tombstones is one to try and the fans of Neeson will be watching this, it might not keep everyone happy because it isn’t as dark as its source material. (Try It)

Best Part: The shock of what Kenny finds in the boot of that car.

Worst Part: Falls away by the end.

Believability: No (0/10)

Chances of Tears: No (0/10)

Chances of Sequel: No

Post Credits Scene: No

Similar Too: Cold in July

An overwhelming experience in its own right, Assassin’s Creed III is the crown jewel on an already excellent series, and it sets the mind reeling about the potential for where the story goes from here.

Apes Together Strong
This was one of my most anticipated movies of this year and it was great. It wasn't as good as Dawn, but it still delivered a satisfying conclusion to a fantastic rebooted trilogy.
The performances are great, the CGI is mind-blowingly realistic and Matt Reeves direction is brilliant.
For my money, these 3 movies are the best reboots ever made.
