"I remember being on a frigid Canadian ski trip with my family and going to dinner at a rollicking fondue restaurant that had Michael Ritchie’s great-looking 1969 Robert Redford vehicle, Downhill Racer, showing silently on an endless loop. We must have eaten there a couple of times because I remember this flick much more than the miserable week spent skiing icy Mont-Tremblant."

Grumpy Cat's All About Miserable Me:A Doodle Journal for Everything Awful by Jimi Bonogofsky-Gronseth is a fun little book. It is a book where people get to engage by making their own doodles to the story. This book is very interactive.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Dover Publications via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

Robin Hood (2018) updates the legend to The Fast & The Feudal #Review
Unnecessary? Yes. Historically inaccurate? Ridiculously so. Fun? Absolutely, you miserable bunch. 2018’s “Robin Hood” sets out to put a modern #OccupySherwood spin on the age-old tale of the redistribution of medieval wealth and taken on its own bonkers terms, there’s a lot of fun to have with this bombastic fast and feudal’ adventure yarn....

"For me it is one of the most brilliant Mafia movies. Moreover it's the incarnation of the mythical erotic-romantic-tragic relationship between men and women. Beginning with love and ending with death. Isn't it the best description of this endless men-and-women love-hate system? And it's one of the best films about family as well. The protecting nest as miserable, dark shelter from an even darker existence of solitude."

"I read The Easter Parade or Revolutionary Road every year. Richard Yates is just a good word-for-word on-the-page writer. He couldn’t be more different than someone like Joy Williams or Raymond Carver. His sentences are very complex, the stories are complicated and he was such a miserable man. I always like people who would hate me. I don’t know what that’s about. But Richard Yates would definitely hate me"

"I made a stop-motion film once. It was ten minutes long. It took twenty-one days to shoot, and I spent six months making it, from creating the creatures to finishing the edit. Stop-motion is one of the most miserable, torturous art forms. It’s hard to process the human effort it took to make this film . . . In my mind, this film is one of the seven wonders of the world."

This entry in the tie in series finds Monk and Natalie on vacation in Paris. But Monk doesn't start to relax until he finds a recent skull mixed in with all the ancient ones in the catacombs. I found the beginning a bit slow, but the mystery was engaging and the book was absolutely hilarious.

I like the square purple brain thing, but unsurprisingly slight and for all its performative lip service about how shitty capitalism is (which as it stands here is the most bare-bones, seen-it-already critique of the system delivered by the company that holds an unprecedented oligopoly over most major media companies) it blatantly fails to fully condemn it. "Hey, it's good to have fun and all... but just don't forget to make sure it doesn't get in the way of the job that makes you miserable!" Fuck off.

Rolling Stone's 369th greatest album of all time
Good compilation of early Smiths classics, featuring the superb Panic, and a number of their other well-known songs - Ask, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, William It Was Really Nothing and Pleasex3 Let Me Get What I Want.
At times, Morrissey comes across as an annoying whiney child, and even looking at the song titles bears this out. I do wonder if he was breast-fed too long maybe.
Overall a great album if you can give him a little leeway with his whining.
