Local Gone Missing is an engaging police procedural with a bit of a difference. The main character, Detective Elise King, is on sick leave, recovering from breast cancer treatment. But when one of the villagers in her village goes missing, she finds herself back at work in a more informal way.

I liked this a lot. For such a small village there’s a lot going on: drugs, tensions between new and old villagers, fires - and a disappearing neighbour. Honestly, it made me vow to never move to a village!

The main characters are great. Dee, who knows everyone’s secrets and flies under everyone’s radar; Ronnie, the typical nosey neighbour who wants to be Elise’s sidekick; and Elise, who is worried about going back to the job she clearly loves.

I didn’t guess who did it, as is usual.

Many thanks to The Pigeonhole for serialising this and expanding my reading horizons!

This story continues where the first book left off and I must say that I have fallen head over heels in love with the continuing story line. Superbly crafted, well written with characters that pull you in quickly and keep you wanting more. This is truly a beautiful and moving story. You cannot pass this book up as you will be missing out on the ride of your life!

A Smashing film
I really enjoyed this, one of the best buddy type films in a long time. A private eye and an enforcer unwittingly team up in a missing person case. Cue fights, shoot outs and car chases as they stumble from one clue to another. All with a good 70's vibe and sound track.

The anticipated wait for S2 didn't disappoint. We saw the same lovable characters and we got to meet some new ones. You root for the kids to win, you laugh you cry and want to get rid of the force that is tearing them apart. Once again there's a character to love for everyone. If you haven't watched you're missing out.

Complex classic film noir style
This is a classic. Most people will probably know the Humphrey Bogart big screen version but Raymond Chandler was clearly the original. Gritty, dark and twisted - unusual for its time - he broke boundaries with some of the themes described. As brilliant as it is written, the plot at times gets too complicated and if you're not concentrating, you'll end up missing important clues.

It was a good book and I’m sure the sequel will be even better but I feel like there could have been more depth to it. I don’t know, I just think there was something missing. When it ended I felt it was a bit meh. I’ll read the next one because I dislike leaving it on a cliff hanger but I hope there’s a lot more to it.

I've just noticed that since the new update there isn't a way of rearranging items in lists - unless I'm missing something? I used to be able to drag and drop, or choose to move an item top/bottom but I don't seem to be able to do that now. My main lists are used for ordering movies for the year from best to worst, so that feature was ideal for that.

@Dean you're right - I've just tried it on the mobile app and it does let you do that. I was on desktop when I tried yesterday and I'm not sure if it was the same, but probably was. I must have missed it!

That’s good news @Lee - I was trying to work out why it wasn’t there! Hopefully it was there... ?
