Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated Slay It with Flowers (A Flower Shop Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Florist Abby Knight is not only in her cousin's wedding, but she's providing the flowers. So she has a vested interest in making sure it goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately, one of the groomsmen goes missing. Can she find him? This is a light but fun book. Most of the characters are a bit flat, but I love Abby. And the plot and humor kept me entertained.

The score (1 more)
Mix of crime mystery and supernatural
Atmospheric Thriller with a disappointing ending
A 6 part thriller on the BBC that starts very well, but sadly the ending was a let down. A good haunted house vibe mixed with a crime story of a missing child from 23 years ago. The first 4 episodes were fine and some of the plot reveals were good. Unfortunately the supernatural element to it and the vague ending will no doubt annoy many people. It's ok overall but could have been great with a better finish.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated The Family Way (Molly Murphy, #12) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Molly is visiting her mother-in-law to try to escape the heat when she starts on the trail of a missing Irish immigrant. Can Molly find her, or will her pregnancy keep her home and safe? The plot was uneven, although it got better as the book progressed. And I am really tired of the usual conflict with Molly's now husband Daniel. Please, give him something else to do in the books!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated The Curse of the Holy Pail (An Odelia Grey Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Paralegal Odelia Grey is stunned when one of her firm's clients dies hours after Odelia visits him on business. She quickly learns that the crown jewel of his antique lunch box collection is missing. Was that the motive for the murder or is something else happening? I loved the book. The characters were real and the plot kept me guessing from one page to the next. The ending was also emotionally satisfying.

Cheryl (6 KP) rated Amazon Kindle in Apps
Jul 2, 2018
I absolutely love the kindle app. I have it on my phone and I also have a kindle. I can buy books on my kindle and they will instantly sync to my phone. If I read on one device I can instantly pick up on another. However, I don’t like that I can’t buy books on my phone, I end up saving books and either forgetting and missing deals or forgetting altogether

Suspenseful romance
This was a suspenseful romance that was a fairly quick but also an easy and satisfying read. Livvy's fiance went missing and she hired someone used to Columbia to help her find Alec. Thomas was the professional but slightly shady companion and protector.
The whole time in Columbia was great reading, it was twisty and unpredictable; the pages just flew by. The final twist could have been stronger but I was here for the culmination, even if it was a little convenient. A great, quick read.

I love anthologies. Especially ones that don't have to go with the rest of the series just expands upon the universe. Unlike some you have to read or you know you're missing something crucial between books 3 and 4( for example). There are spoilers in this anthology however Patricia Briggs does a good job letting you know and where the stories fit inside the Mercy and Alpha and Omega universe. My favorite is the Ben story Redemption out of all her characters he has the most personal growth.

The Grudge's Ring II
The Grudge 2- is a decent sequel, if you like the first one, than you will like this one. This one is scary, horrorfying and spooky. Not to mention creepy.
The Plot: A young woman (Amber Tamblyn) encounters a terrible curse while searching for her missing sister (Sarah Michelle Gellar) in Tokyo. The evil imprecation fills its victims with murderous rage, but it also brings together the diverse group to unlock its secret and save their lives.
Overall it is a good movie and a decent sequel.

Silence is golden
I've heard great things about this after missing at the cinema as the premise didn't really grab me at first. It's a unique, original horror film with barely any dialogue! The creatures do look good but it's the human emotions that rise up in the film that leave a lasting impression. Only down side is it is a bit short with a very simple plot. The ending could have been a little better as well. Overall though a great original horror that scares with built up tension.
