Looks a bit like a Guy Ritchie movie - and not without reason, for Matthew Vaughn produced the early Ritchie films - but the tone is (thankfully) more measured and serious. The plot is nothing very distinctive, although the subtext about Craig's character having to adopt the brutal methods of the people he encounters has some interest. Good performances from a strong cast; Michael Gambon is scary as a gang boss, but it's Daniel Craig's movie. This is apparently the performance that swung Bond for him, but the film deserves to be recognised on its own merits.

So back at the ranch we see him return to at the end of the last film, we find he has is playing uncle to a young girl and her mum who live there. After she takes a trip to Mexico she goes missing and it's up to Rambo to save the day. This definitely feels different to all the other Rambo films, more like a Taken plot with a girl needing rescuing. Overall its not a bad action film it just doesn't feel like a Rambo film. Let's just hope this is the last one.

I can appreciate pieces of art being more of a thought provoking or statement piece, but I'm pretty sure being left dumbfounded and speechless (neither of those in a good way) was not the reaction this was aiming for.
I suppose visually it was pleasing to the eye, and some of the action (when it did occur) looked good too but I, unfortunately, saw this at the cinema, so I think that added to the spectacular aspect of those scenes.
I doubt I would have been half as impressed if watching it at home.
I would give it a miss, you aren't really missing out on anything, unless you like to watch Brad Pitt brooding, but doing it in space, as he goes on the galaxies most boring 'road trip'.
