Beautifully written, elegant and poignant
Unwaveringly brilliant pulling on each and every heart string. This poignant, rich portrayal of Paris life is completely immersive with moments of pure beauty. Written in the perspective of tenants living in a Parisian apartment, it encompasses modern tribulations with contemporary social politics including terror attacks and the rise of discrimination not to mention the human stories that hold it together. Fran Cooper is a genuinely fantastic writer and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Tongue and cheek feminist outlook of Greek mythology
This is pretty hilarious. Once again, the master of feminist prose Margaret Atwood has created a modern day version of Penelope from the Greek mythology of Odysseus in which she is no longer alive. She's rather outspoken, feisty and sly attempting to live with her brutish husband while on Earth. At the same time, her hatred for Helen of Troy has seeped into her afterlife as well. I love the ending talking about liposuction and heels. A fun read.

After reading this book I began to find out more about Malala's life. It made me feel like I was with her in the story and I felt like crying at some point because of how she described growing up in a culture where girls can't go to school. (0 more)
Amazing book!
Reading this book opened my eyes to how girls in this modern world have no opportunity to go to school but with Malala being strong and inspirational, many of them still have a chance.

Very interesting read. Well written and very informative. I absolutely love fairies which is what drew me to request this book......and I was not disappointed. This book has definitions, poems and a serious look at the folkloreand mythology of fairies. Some of the things covered in this book are Fairyland, Basic Facts about Fairies, The Courts and Divisions in Fairy, Fairies in Tradition, Mortal Interactions and Fairies in the Modern World. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

Dwayne Johnson is brilliant at comedy. He may look big and scary on the outside but inside he's a nerd! And Jack Black is so funny as the ultimate girly girl in a man's body. (0 more)

A really good, modern version of Jumanji. I loved how the game updates inself to fit in the changing times.
It is funny and I love how the characters are all out of their comfort zones.
A movie for all the family

Provocative-at-the-time Hammer exploitation movie; Ingrid Pitt's first starring role for the company. Voluptuous vampire Carmilla (Pitt) preys upon aristocratic young women in fairy-tale Mitteleuropa.

Much stronger on gratuitous nudity and heavily implied lesbianism than on narrative coherency; good supporting cast of British character actors is very much put in the shade by a powerful, charismatic performance from Ingrid Pitt. All feels a bit tame by modern standards, but good enough production values and acting to keep it credible and mildly interesting.

Partying in the modern age
Andrew W K took some time out of music to become a motivational speaker and learn some new tricks.
This has a grand epic sound compared to his debut album (I Get Wet).
Still sounds like a party but has elements from 70s prog rock (without the infamous solos) and the pseudo spiritual influence is thankfully not religious.
The songs are interspersed with a few short motivational speeches which mainly serve as positive self help interludes.

Sweeney St. George studies gravestones, so an unique one in Vermont is too much for her to resist. It is rumored that a murder is connected to the gravestone, but when a modern murder happens, Sweeney is left wondering what the connection might be. This series has an interesting hook and great characters. The plot was fascinating as well. Good start to an interesting series.

"The prince and the pauper unfriended each other because neither could stand the other's political status updates."
I absolutely loved this book, and i think it came around at a perfect time in my life. Its a quick and easy read and kept me entertained the entire way through. This sharp, satirical, look at how modern twenty somethings are moving along through life, and especially with the use of social media, is hilariously accurate in a lot of ways.
5/5 would recommend to a friend!

This film is HILARIOUS!!
I swear i was so ready to hate this. Im not a fan of jack black or The Rock, but the kids wanted to see it and I’m a huge Dr Who fan so gave it a go in support of Karen Gillan.

I was proved so wrong!! I dont want to give away anything but it is just so funny! A modern take on a classic movie with loads if genuine LOL moments ??
