This is set in two timelines: modern day and the Tudor Court. Dr Perdita Rivers and her twin sister, Piper, have been left an enormous bequest by their maternal grandmother. Perdita’s grandmother was a renowned Tudor historian, and had cut off all ties with her granddaughters after the death of their mother. So this is a bit of a shock!
The other timeline follows Catherine Howard in the lead up to her marriage to Henry VIII, and those fateful months that followed it.
I really do like historical novels, and the Tudor period has always particularly fascinated me. I loved all of the historical detail (and I know a lot of it is just conjecture, but it’s fun to imagine!), and Perdie’s research was very interesting too. I’d love a library like hers!
I’m very much looking forward to reading the second instalment as the ending was most intriguing!!

Romance is not dead
This story makes me swoon and offers reassurance that romance is not dead. Even if you are not a fan of Jane Austen, this movie is beautiful. The scenery makes me ache to go to England and take in the countryside. The costumes are authentic and the score really adds to the music. But, above all, is the story of the Bennett Family. The Bennett's need to marry off their five girls and hopefully to wealthy men. Simple right? Not really. Mrs. Bennett and three of her daughters are.... embarrassing. They gossip, are loud and silly. Finally, there is good news on the horizon for the Bennett's, a new wealthy man has moved into the county.

This is the second book about reporter Jane Ryland and Boston detective Jake Brogan. This time around, Jane is helping a former co-worker find out if she was sent to the wrong woman while trying to track down her birth mother. Meanwhile, she is also covering a murder that Jake is investigating. A woman is found murdered. Two kids under 3, both alive, are in the next room. It looks like a simple domestic dispute except the woman has no ID anywhere in the apartment.

I loved the book. It started fast and never let me go until I reached the end. The characters were great as well, and I had a blast spending time with all of them.

I got the book via Amazon Vine.

I was late to getting to know about this series, yet with saying that it is the first TV series which I was hooked on. In the first season we are introduced to Sam and Dean whose father is away on a hunting trip and has not returned and their mother was killed by a yellow eyed demon. Sam and Dean give up a normal life of going to collage and working in a garage and became hunters. They befriend various people along the way over the rest of the seasons , even becoming friends with an angel who will do anything to save the brothers from becoming human vessals for Lucifer and Michael. Longest running CW TV program out as the show is now in it's 13th season.

micro-presses are small publishing houses with usually with a very small number of people. They don't have all the bells and whistles of the giant publishing houses but, these smaller publishing houses have an eye for finding the diamonds in the rough.

This book was more of a cubic zirconia than a diamond but still very shiny.

Let me explain.

This book tells the story of Siva, a small boy growing up in southern India who craves for the love and attention of his mother. Alas, she is unable to because she is mourning the loss of Siva's twin, Tara who dies at birth. Throughout the book, Siva struggles with his identity, to try and find a place where he fits in but also who he can be so that his mum loves him.

Good Family Drama
Well I'm surprised at the critics poor reviews, once again...funny how they always seem to have a different opinion to the majority?! I thought this was a nice, low key, subtle, touching family drama. A simple tale based on an Italian film of the same name from 1990. A windowed father makes an impromptu road trip to see his kids when they fail to show up for a family dinner. Discovering along the way the truth about their lives they have kept from him as they only use to open up to the mother. It has plenty of nice little touches along the way, it can be sad at times but in other ways becomes a nice reminder about the importance of staying in touch with family. Great performance from De Niro and a good cast line up. Well worth a watch!

A Simple Favor (2018)
A Simple Favor (2018)
2018 | Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Competently made and very well-cast suspense drama (kind of). 'Ordinary person' single mother and vlogger Stephanie (Kendrick) ends up becoming besties with dangerously glamorous and enigmatic fellow parent (Lively); when her new pal vanishes, Stephanie decides that something suspicious may have taken place...

Very very much in the same vein as Gone Girl, to the extent that people would probably have been screaming knock-off had this film not also functioned as a rather effective black comedy - you may be wondering what a light comedian like Kendrick is doing fronting a thriller directed by a comedy specialist like Paul Feig; well, this is the reason why. This may also be the reason why the film is cheerily up-front about how far-fetched its own plot is. Not the kind of movie that really lingers in the memory, but nicely put-together and fun while you're watching it.

Following on from the end of T2: Infiltrator, this novel continues the story started in that novel. The infiltrator of the previous novel may have been destroyed, but she has left behind 2 clones who continue her work, while Sarah Connor recuperates in military hospital from the wounds she received destroying it.

For the first portion of the story, then, John is out on his own with Dieter von Rossbach, rather than working with his mother. This allows the character to grow and mature somewhat, while it also provides the opportunity to bring back some other faces from the film in the Sarah Connor portion of the story, most noticeably in Dr Silbermann (the psychiatrist from T1 and T2).

The novel also takes to opportunity to further explore the paradoxical timeline of the world, with one key scene in particular towards the end showing how Skynet became sentient.

Fly Dumbo Fly
Rewatching this classic animation movies now as a adult, its so great and wonderful and gives a whole new perception on this classic animation films that you wouldnt as a child. Dumbo being one of them.

The Plot: A young circus elephant is born with comically large ears and given the cruel nickname Dumbo. One day at a show, he is taunted by a group of kids, inciting his mother into a rage that gets her locked up. After Dumbo's ears cause an accident that injures many of the other elephants, he is made to dress like a clown and perform dangerous stunts. Everything changes when Dumbo discovers that his enormous ears actually allow him to fly, and he astounds everyone at the circus with his new talent.

Seeing Dumbo finally fly for the first time, made me cry. It was such a great moment.

A classic.
