"Outkast is a fucking major influence on me. That had 'So Fresh, So Clean,' 'B.O.B.,' 'Mrs. Jackson,' all that shit on it. Those were all hits. They all influenced hip-hop in a major way. Andre was fucking swagging out. He showed the world that it was cool to be different, and you can be like, “Fuck what the world thinks.” Nobody ever got at him for that and they never will. He's the fucking man, that's why"

"There’s arguably no more famous knitter in literature than the crafty Mrs. Marple (pun intended). She’s a sly old lady who endlessly solves crimes while simultaneously knitting sweaters, and crocheting socks. The Moving Finger could stand to feature more of her, but it stands as one of my favorites for the simple fact that a cast aside old woman, outwits an investigator from the Scotland Yard and concocts an elaborate plan to catch the elusive murderer. Mrs. Mehl has once again used her superb talent to capture this read with everything she put into the book. This book is instantly gripping. You'll be taken on a whirlwind of emotions, you'll find yourself turning page after page long into the night. Then, when you think you've got it all figured out, Mrs. Mehl hits you with something unexpected and you're left wondering what just happened, then you're wondering when in the heck is she going to release book 2 of Kaely Quinn's story so you can try to figure it all out again. That's phenomenal!

I loved this book and I think all readers who want a fast paced, edge of your seat, white knuckle gripping story should grab this new series starter from the talented Nancy Mehl. This 5 star worthy novel is one you don't want to to miss! Hats off to you Ms. Mehl! Hats off!

Maggie Hope has returned to the US. She’s come back as part of Prime Minster Churchill’s staff during his historic meeting with President Roosevelt during December 1941. They’ve hardly arrived when Maggie gets pulled into a case involving the First Lady. Mrs. Roosevelt’s personal secretary is dead from an apparent suicide, but something seems off, and there is a clue that points to the First Lady. A scandal could derail this new alliance. Can Maggie find the truth before the lies come out?

I’ve enjoyed the previous books in this series, so I was looking forward to this one. Sadly, it is extremely weak. The mystery took a back seat to watching history unfold and sub-plots that involved supporting characters. All the characters felt weak, and one devolved into someone I didn’t like. But my real problem were the lectures on everything from race to imperialism and capital punishment, which again slowed things down.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
“But the problem with rules, he reflected, was that they implied a right way and a wrong way to do something. When, in fact, most of the time there were simply ways, none of them quite wrong or quite right, and nothing to tell you for sure which side of the line you stood on ”

This book focuses on the Richardsons, an idealistic suburban family; Mr Richardson a hotshot lawyer, Mrs Richardson a housewife cum reporter and the Richardson children; Lexi, Trip, Moody and Izzy. They live happily in their 6 bedroom house and had all the material belongings they could long for, but each had a void in their life. This would be filled in some way or another by Mia and her daughter Pearl, new tenants in one of Mrs Richardson’s properties. We watch the two families grow close and form relationships only to be divided by a custody battle taking place in the town.
