Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated Six Geese A-Slaying (Meg Langslow, #10) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Meg is in charge of the yearly Christmas, I mean Holiday, parade. As if trying to keep the people from irritating each other isn't enough, someone kills Santa. The book starts off with plenty of laughs but it moves into more serious matters as the murder takes center stage. I did figure things out fairly early, but I was having so much fun I didn't care.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated Deadly Appraisal (Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Josie Prescott is hoping that hosting a benefit auction fundraiser will help her antique business. But when someone is poisoned during the auction, Josie becomes involved in a second murder instead. Even worse, the police think she might have been the target. It took me a little while to get into the book, but the story was good and the characters are strong.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated Skating Around the Law (Rebecca Robbins, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Rebecca Robbins has returned to her small home town just long enough to sell her mother's roller rink. But when the town handy man is found murdered in the women's bathroom, she realizes she needs to get his murder solved quickly since no one is interested in it. A typical cozy series debut, but I really enjoyed the characters and found the story fun.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated The Death Merchant (Diagnosis Murder, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
While Steve and Mark vacation in Hawaii, Mark meets a local who is then killed by a shark. Except Mark doesn't think it was a real shark attack when he gets a good look at the body. Can they stop the killer from striking again? The plot is brilliant and the characters are spot on. My only complaint is that Amanda and Jesse become minor characters.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated How to Crash a Killer Bash (Party Planning, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Thanks to Penny, I got an ARC of this book. Presley Parker is hosting a murder mystery to raise money for San Francisco's de Young museum when the play's victim dies in real life. The final quarter seemed a little bumpy with Presley being over shocked by things I thought were obvious. The climax still surprised me and kept me turning the pages.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated In Dublin's Fair City (Molly Murphy Mysteries, #6) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Irish immigrant Molly Murphy returns to Ireland on a job to find a missing relative. Unfortunately, she gets involved with a murder on board the boat taking her back to her native country. I normally love this historical series, but this one was up to par. The mystery was sacrificed in favor of the historical plot, which was good enough to redeem the book.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Murder at the Moonshine Inn (Hazel Rose Book Group Mystery #2) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
Murder at the Moonshine Inn is a little edgier than most cozy mysteries, but it does just manage to stay cozy. It was a nice change to have the protagonist try to refuse to do the investigating, realizing how dangerous it would probably be, and then to finally agree to do it but only with the aid of her book group, and to a lesser degree, her husband.
The story is full of twists, turns, and humor, and should please both cozy and traditional mystery fans.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2434 KP) rated Murder in Vein (A Madison Rose Vampire Mystery, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Madison Rose is kidnapped and is about to be killed until she is rescued - by vampires. And they want to use her to try to solve a series of murders that threaten their secret existence. Can she even trust them? I enjoyed the book and really grew to like the characters. Some of the scenes were just too dark for me, however.

Alicia S (193 KP) rated Under My Skin in Books
Sep 28, 2018
Fabulous book - sucked me in from page one! Left with too many unanswered questions after her husband's murder, Poppy has been self-medicating and trying to regain some memory of what happened to her in those missing days following his funeral. A daily struggle, trying to tell what is real and what isn't, who she can and can't trust, having suddenly lost the man she loves. Highly recommend title; kept me on edge and I was heartbroken (yet hopeful) when the truth finally came out.
Emma Wilson (22 KP) rated Murder Mystery (2019) in Movies
Jun 16, 2019
So, this film, showing on netflix, is worth a watch, if, in my opinion, there is not much else on. I was a little disappointed, thinking it would be a little better, as it is starring adam sandler, and Jennifer Aniston.
About a couple, who have been married for 15 years, and decide to go on their honeymoon, but end up getting stuck in the middle of a big family feud and murder mystery...pretty self explanatory in the title.
Reminded me of a game of cluedo.
