After a fairly violent opening to the film, A Landscape of Lies tells the story of Jacob who is inflicted with PTSD after spending his time in the Gulf war, as he tries to adjust to being back in the UK and is helped along by his former commanding officer, Hilt.

But after Hilt is murdered by a serial killer, Jacob’s reality comes crashing down, Jacob decides that the only thing that he can now do is find out who the killer was and to help bring closure for Louise, Hilt’s widow, after the murder. Jacob then goes head to head with DCI Lane and his partners Sergeant Egan and DC Carter as he tries to discover the killer his life starts to mix with the suspects, such as East End villain and property tycoon Brannigan Woods, Marcus Clancy a workaholic who has put a strain on his marriage to his wife Claire, who is also cheating on him, and their rebellious daughter, Hannah.

I was very creeped out by the background of the town from the very beginning. I don't know how the girls were able to be brave enough to run around town by themselves ever again but I agree that they should be able to instead of being too afraid to train for their dreams.

Stella and Mila were my favorite characters and I could not stand how people were not really looking for Mila just as they hadn't after the first murder. The cops were trying to say girls just do these things when clearly it was a generalization. The teenage boys also treated the girls unfairly. Nick clearly was abusive and controlling and I automatically suspected him of killing Mila just because Ellie had told her what had happened between her and Nick. I don't want to give away any spoilers to this thriller but I def recommend because it grabs your attention from the very beginning.

Edgar Allen Poe is on a tour of the universities of England, His first stop Oxford. He's worried about his wife who's had a rough time on the way over. Hes had a bit too much to drink to celebrate his success he then wakes up in what he thinks is his room with a very sore head and a dead chambermaid at the bottom of his bed on the floor!
He must do everything he can to clear his name so he can continue with his tour.

It is an absolutely encapsulating story it did remind me a bit of Sherlock and Watson. It's very well written and captures your imagination from the start!

The murder scenes are rather gruesome but then murders aren't meant to be pretty are they! The air of mystery through out the novel keeps you wanting to read through to the end to find out whodunit and why?

a fantastic mystery to keep you captivated.
