A well-researched, exciting historical murder-mystery.
This is a very enjoyable murder mystery, set in 17th century Oxford. The English Parliament is being hosted by Oxford, with King Charles II, his wife and mistresses also present (although we don’t really see them)
Luke Sandys, Chief Officer of the Bailiffs, is called on to solve the murder of an MP (Member of Parliament), and also to stop a treasonous plot against the King.
The Bailiffs were an early precursor of the modern police force from what I could make out. There’s some great historical detail about them, about everyday lives at this time, and about religious and political tensions between Protestants and catholics. It’s just a really good story overall!
There is a historical note at the end of the story that was very interesting, and I really appreciated the extra information.
In all, a well researched and exciting story!
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and the author, Jake Lynch, for reading along!

A long boring episode of Murder She Wrote
John Le Carre is well known for his mystery novellas however this one doesn't seem to reach the bar. It felt like reading a long winded episode of Midsomer Murders. It was fairly pedantic and obvious and barely engaging but shorter than a usual Le Carre book.

Hannah's brother-in-law Bill is running for sheriff, but then his opponent is found murdered in a dumpster. Can Hannah find the killer before the election? Another good mystery with these great characters.

A murdered parachuter and a suicide that Dr. Sloan witnesses are the cases in this fast paced mystery. I enjoyed it, but I did feel that there was one more twist than needed at the end.

Guess who?
Murder mystery is exactly that, a murder mystery. Sandler and Aniston co star in this comedy as a police officer who can't seem to pass his detectives exam and his wife, a hairdresser in need of a break. The couple go on a long awaited retreat but are offered a cruise ride by a rich stranger in place of a tour bus.
After accepting and meeting the other passengers on board, thing's quickly go south when one of them is murdered (see where this is going?) The jokes come in nicely and the couple's banter is fun.
This is the best I've seen Sandler since the ridiculous 6 and Aniston since the bounty hunter.
