Eli Marks is filling in for his uncle on a TV show. His job is to watch a psychic and then debunk his act. Eli recognizes several of the man’s tricks as variations on magic and says so. What he doesn’t expect is to find himself the chief suspect in the man’s murder the next morning. Can he conjure up the real killer?

I liked the idea of a magician as the sleuth, however, I felt the magic overwhelmed the mystery. That’s a shame because the mystery was very good and kept me confused until the end. Likewise, the characters were interesting. Hopefully, the mystery/magic mix will be better balanced as the series goes forward.

NOTE: I was given a copy of the audio version of this book. My thoughts are my own.

Good story line that at the end was quite unexpected. I like how it switches from different characters to give different views on situations and is not in chronological order (0 more)
I felt that the story was a bit slow to get going and did start to wonder why people were raving about it as it seemed very bland (0 more)
Book review
Overall i really enjoyed this book. It throws many curveballs to the plot and I did not expect the ending. It combines murder mystery, crime drama, romance, mystery and much more. Very cleverly written in the way it is not written in chronological order and how the characters dont seem to be united in anyway at the start but slowing the ball unravels.

Fun whodunit?
A fun quirky Whodunit? with a big cast and dash of humour, along with some red herrings. Make this an enjoyable film for those who like a murder mystery.
It was a little light on the humour side overall, so not as much of a comedy as I thought it would be. As for the Whodunit side of things the family members all have their motives but from quite early on there isn't a great deal of mystery in the plot. It finishes strongly thankfully with a typical drawing room summing up.
Overall a fun film for fans of the genre without really testing the grey cells of many sleuth viewers.
