Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated The Only Good Indians in Books

This horror novel is perfect for fans of The Terror. The story sucks you in before you know it and soon you are as unsure and terrified as the protagonists. The blend of folklore and legend, of myth and supernatural, of real and make believe are what keeps you reading long after it’s given you the creeps.

Amy Tan recommended The Woman Warrior in Books (curated)
Percy and his friends must travel through the ever changing labyrinth of Daedalus to try to save their camp. The action and use of Greek myth was still fun, but it felt very formulaic after reading the first three in the series.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Heiligs debut novel is inspired by Hawaiian myth and folklore and has an entirely diverse cast with a biracial main character, a Persian love interest, etc. (Ive completely forgotten about everyone else).
Have I mentioned time traveling is through maps?! If the Hawaiian myth and folklore don't grab you, then the maps definitely should.

Paradise is a promise no god bothers to keep. Theres only now, and tomorrow nothing will be the same, whether we like it or not.

Irene M (130 KP) rated Monster Science: Could Monsters Survive (and Thrive!) in the Real World? in Books
Dec 7, 2018
This is a brilliant read. Packed full of monsters like Frankenstein, Vampires and Bigfoot, it starts by giving a history as to where the myth or story of the creatures came from. It then continues with a modern day science look at them and explains whether or not they could exist or survive in the real world.
A fantastic read for any budding ghost buster.

After trying to sort myself out I've finally gotten to a place where I can tell you without a doubt:
I DETEST THIS BOOK!!!!
Why?
1. The formatting is wonky, there's no indication when it time jumps.
2. it felt very rushed.
3. I could see the ending from a mile away.
Onto something better.
Seriously give me better greek myth-inspired books to read than this
