Carleane Tang (791 KP) rated Jane the Virgin - Season 1 in TV
Aug 20, 2019
I watched this has background noise when I couldn't find anything else that took my fancy at the time on Netflix. I quickly became obsessed, it's so cheesy but fun and heartwarming. The far out storyline s work due to the nature of the programme and genuinely keep you wanting more.
Definitely binge worthy

David McK (3233 KP) rated Cape Storm (Weather Warden, #8) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
At the end of the previous book in the Weather Warden series (<i>Gale Froce</i>), Joanne - and, by extension, the entire organisation - had gone public with their powers over the forces of nature.
Not only that, but she had also got married to her Djinn lover David. On the minus side, however, she has also had a Demon Mark latched onto her, by her old nemesis 'Bad Bob' Beragnine (sp?).
This novel picks up from the end of that, with the warden organisation out to hunt down Bad Bob while a storm is about to lash the coast of Florida (nature doesn't like being messed with), and while Joanne must try to stop herself from going to the 'dark side'.

Awesome characters
Plot thickens through each book
Love this series!
I love these books. They can be found in the children’s section of book stores but from the second book onwards they contain explicit scenes of a sexual nature and shouldn’t be read by children. Feyre is tough and a perfect main character

Cori June (3033 KP) rated Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, #8) in Books
Jan 4, 2019
Things are heating up for Harry, he is getting used to being a Warden and it is a difficult. It is Harry, when isn't it?
There are a few scenes that make me happy he is a bit quixotic in nature. Even is I also roll my eyes on occasion. And as always choices, choices, choices.

Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated The Little Drummer Girl in TV
Jan 16, 2019
The Little Drummer Girl, BBC1, review: a superbly tense climax to a dark and downbeat spy saga
Though not as glossy as The Night Manager, this adaptation proved John Le Carre is as good as anyone exploring the dark side of human nature

Melanie Caldicott (6 KP) rated 600 Hours of Edward (Edward, #1) in Books
Apr 29, 2021
A sweet thought-provoking tale about Edward - a man with OCD and aspergers. Cleverly written it takes the reader on a journey to understand Edward's condition but, more importantly, to get to know the man behind his disabilities. Powerful insights are revealed which actually open windows not only into mental illness but human nature. I enjoyed this book.
