Peter G. (247 KP) rated Machete (2010) in Movies

Dont try and piece together any semblance of a coherent storyline here, just sit back and let it happen is what I told myself whilst taking in this over the top Danny Trejo vehicle.
One thing going for it is that it never tries to be something it isn't and is of the pulp grindhouse nature that means thin plot and lots of blood and incoherent dialogue which you will absolutely love or loath, I was somewhere firmly in the middle.

Sarah (7798 KP) rated Our Planet in TV

Well done but isn't harsh enough
You've got to hand it to them, Netflix really know what they're doing. Everyone knows you can't go wrong with a David Attenborough documentary, so it's very smart of Netflix to get him to narrate their nature documentary.
Visually, this documentary is stunning and absolutely flawless. To the point where the picture quality in some scenes looks that sharp and defined that it almost looks fake. Having the episodes focus on specific areas of the planet is a good move although because of this it only touches briefly on certain species and circumstances without going into too much depth. And it wouldn't be a nature documentary without some truly heart wrenching scenes (the flamingos and walruses especially) and also some wonderfully adorable scenes too (the otters)..
This documentary series main aim is to highlight what we're doing to ruin our planet and how it's affecting the wildlife. It definitely does this, but I dont think it does it very well. It touches on these issues but even with David Attenborough's sombre narrative, it never comes across as harsh enough. Despite the message, the score and scenes used in the episodes come across as far too positive and upbeat and it comes across as a little confused. Yes there are some positives with some parts of the planet and wildlife recovering, but this is only the minority. This should have been a hard hitting bleak no holds barred documentary about the damage we're doing to our planet, and it just isn't. When it comes to the damage that's being done to nature, it shouldn't be sugar coated.

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Nightmare Dance in Books

Firstly, I would like to draw your attention to the cover of the book - the look on the little boy's face is haunting. What threat is he? What happened to him? Who is the man behind the machine gun and why? This book provides an explanation.
I don't think you could ever describe this book as enjoyable or a thrilling read because of the nature of its content, however it was well written and well researched although I am no expert.

Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated The Fairy in the Kettle in Books

What a lovely little book, fairies and friendship all combine when the wind blows up a storm leaving the fairies in trouble, happily there is one little fairy who loves the rain and is happy to welcome others and all is good in the end. As a story, this could be a great way to support little ones who find wind and heavy rain difficult to cope with or just a lovely memory for your little one to remember and keep the magic of nature alive.

This book keeps you gripped from the very beginning, in some ways it shows the true nature of our world at its finest, shoot first ask questions later. Some people just want to watch the world burn like the characters in this book. It was an epic read if not a little long, but the development of the characters and the twists throughout the book keep you turning the pages, wanting more.

What a sweet set of stories!
I had never read anything by Josie Riviera before this set. They were sweet stories set around different holidays, and music.
A very easy/simple read and that keeps you entertained. I give them a 4 out of 5 stars for the cute storylines, the sweet nature of the characters and the easy flow of the stories together.
I volunteered to read the set in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

By Tate James
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Join Kit and her new husbands as they face the high courts of Hell to answer for River's dual nature as a Hellhound.
A quick check in with Kit and her men. I need so much more!
This opened up a whole new world then left me wanting Kit to have Hell and demon adventures.
I do miss them!
