Daddy Never Understood!!
Kids mainly follows 2 friends, Telly and Casper, whilst they hang around New York and meet up with friends. Telly is a guy who thinks he's God's gift to girls, this opinion solidified by the amount of girls he de-virginises on a daily basis. Casper is a fucked up Skate kid with a penchant for drugs and disturbing behaviour. Although this seems to be a regular day in New York for the 2 young guys, they'd better enjoy the day, as their lives are going to be turned upside down forever...

I think Kids is absolutely amazing; it really captures the New York Street vibe and each character has their own fascinating personality, even if they're only on screen for a short period. Even though the storyline might not sound like much (I've tried my best not to spoil any of it!) it's captivating and keeps you hooked until the last second as something is ALWAYS going on. It deals extremely well with controversial topics and thrusts them unfalteringly into the spotlight, but does so in a way that is respectful and tactful yet still shocking. It's a Movie that deserves more recognition than it's ever got. I love it so much that I even got the Script of it! Amazing Movie.

I certainly have films like that for sure. This one is rather intense though if I remember correctly?

Miss Aldridge Regrets is a great murder mystery set on board the Queen Mary en route to New York in the 1930’s. And boy, does Miss Aldridge have some regrets!

When a man claiming to be the fixer for a man that her father used to work with in New York appears and offers her the Broadway role of a lifetime, Lena Aldridge can’t refuse. Especially as the husband of her best friend has died in rather unusual circumstances and she could easily be dragged into the aftermath.

Whilst on board the Queen Mary, Lena meets the Abernathy’s, a very wealthy American family. But all is not as it seems, and soon murder is committed on board, and Lena is left thinking that she is in danger too.

This is a novel dripping in glamour, and Lena isn’t always comfortable with that. She comes from a very different background. Everyone seems to be very accepting of her and her ‘Italian’ looks, but if the truth comes out to the Americans, her standing could be changed in an instant.

This was fast paced, and left me guessing up to the last page. The book ends with Lena in New York, so I’m looking forward to the next book to see just what she gets up to, and whether she will actually return to England.

Who Can Defy The Curse? It's been thirty years since the End War destroyed civilization as we know it.
Now a terrible curse hangs over the survivors, one that's pushing them towards a slow and painful extinction.
Unless...
A group of women, known as 'The Complex', have banded together to rebuild and survive in the heart of New York.
Despite the odds, these women aren't going down without a fight. Organized and resourceful, they've set out to rebuild the human race no matter what the cost.
But can it be done?
Can anyone defy the curse?

This was quite a surprise story. This was a story of post apocalyptic New York. We have some great characters and the description of life afterwards was very believable.
This is a great plot and different take on this subject. Lots of twists and surprises here and looking forward to reading more,

"Escape From New York, because that’s the one that made me want to make movies. It was a fantasy world. It was like, “What? There’s a wall around New York? It’s a prison? You can do that? You can just make stuff like that up?” That’s a lot of freedom; I thought that was very freeing. I was twelve when I saw that, twelve or thirteen. And I saw that [John Carpenter] wrote it, directed it, and did the music, and I was just like, “This guy’s doing everything. You can do that?” It just felt like, it was so renegade. It was independently done, and it made me want to start making movies, and I started making movies from that point on. It was just very inspiring. I knew I had a lot of interest, and that made me… That was movie that just really marked my life."

Nellie Wallace is a young widow with two children. In post civil-war New York, the men are scarce and none want the burden of a wife with children. Her dead husband's family is wealthy, and cruel. Desperate to escape their influence, and eager for a home, a husband, and a stable life for her children, Nellie decides to make a new life in San Francisco as a mail order bride.

Saloon owner Blake Malone is a bachelor and likes it that way. He worked hard for everything he has, but the San Francisco City Council won’t approve his plans to build a family emporium unless he is a family man himself. The solution? A mail order bride from New York who will bring him a ready-made family, stability, and the council's approval.

Blake expects his future wife to care for his home and, other than helping him impress the city council, to stay out of his business. He expects life as usual. What he gets is an unexpected desire to win Nellie's heart, a dangerous threat to his new bride, and a rich benefactor determined to steal his new family out from under him. Blake believed his battle for success a hard one. But he will discover that the battle to win Nellie's heart and keep his family safe is going to take everything he's got.

Needing a new start, Trixie Matkowski has bought her aunt’s diner in upstate New York. Her first day at the new owner, someone poisons the health inspector by adding mushrooms to a family recipe. Who is trying to drive Trixie out of business?

This was a fun debut with a plot that grew as the book progressed. The characters were distinct, although they could be a bit better developed. I had some nitpicks with timing and how little sleep Trixie got, but they were minor. This was a fun series debut.

Searching for missing woman and working undercover in the sweat shops of 1901 New York is enough to keep Molly very busy. Can she find the woman while also forming an early union? The historical detail, characters, and plot all come together for a great book.

This game is not as good as King of Tokyo. I feel like the directions for New York assume that you already know how to play and leave a bunch of information out. There are a lot of pieces to this game and a lot that goes into playing it. Maybe if I played Tokyo a lot, I would be more comfortable with the playing of this game.

A very good cop/crime action thriller film with an impressive cast. The main story follows 3 New York cops and the pressure each one is under working in one of the worst areas of the city. Full of drugs, guns, prostitution and various gangs that are on every corner. If you like some of the similar films you should like this. It has plenty of action and a grandstand finish!

Very good film and you don't need to be interested in fashion although the scene where she walks through New York and the clothes change every time she passes behind a bus or turns a corner, must have taken ages to shoot that scene and get the continuity correct. Have read the book and yes things are altered for the film but in this instance I think the film is better.
