Its ok....
If you watch this movie with NO expectations then you will enjoy it. Most Nic Cage films are horrific, but this is more of a decent one....if you suspend your disbelief of how they interpret the clues, get from point A to point B in a time vortex and/or how they steal things (and justify stealing things).
Tim McGuire (301 KP) rated Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans (2009) in Movies

285. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. The Cage unleashed!! It starts with two cops, The Cage, and The Iceman inside a flooding prison staring down into a cell with a prisoner inside begging to be let out before he drowns, the cops are taking bets on what time the cell will totally flood and the dude drowns, but The Cage decides to go ahead and save him anyway, screws up his back in the process, becomes a hero, and is promoted to Bad Lieutenant!! Ok, its just lieutenant, but you get the point. Now Lt Cage, is hooked on pain pills, and just about anything else the evidence room may hold, and with Michael Shannon guarding the door, Lt Cage gets what he needs... Now don't get me wrong, Lt Cage has a job to do, and after the brutal murder of an African family, Lt Cage is on the case, and oh yes he will solve the case, even if that involves cutting of the airways of a wheelchair bound senior citizen for info, actually joining in the gang of suspects pulling off jobs, working both sides, and parking in a handicap spot!! An instant Nic Cage classic!! The ending is so, beautiful. A must see for the Cagist. Some greatly genuine Cage moments and Eva Mendes playing the hottest drug addicted prostitute in recent years. And the rest of the cast, wow, they dug deep!! Watch now!! 😍 Filmbufftim on FB

David McK (3204 KP) rated The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) in Movies

This was a movie that, while I had no real plans to see it in the cinema myself, if somebody had asked me to go along with them I probably would have said "aye, why not?" to.
In this, Nic Cage plays a fictionalised version of himself who is thinking of giving up acting and then accepts a 1 million dollar pay-day from a superfan (the internets current BFF Pedro Pascal) to come and visit him for his birthday celebrations, unaware that the FBI believe that superfan to be a drug kingpin and with the FBI then suborning Cage to spy on said fan.
The rest of the film then plays out as a sort of buddy comedy, with Cage and Pascal (not all as he seems) then finding themselves caught up in various, sometimes ridiculous, situations and as they start using their experiences more and more towards the plot of a film that Gutierrez has dreamed up for Cage to star in.
So, yeah, better than I was expecting and it did even make me laugh once or twice!

David McK (3204 KP) rated National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) in Movies

Second and (currently) last of the Nic Cage starring National Treasure movies, with this particular one a bit more globe-trotting (US, Paris, London) than its predecessor and which sees the Gates family out to clear the name of one of their ancestors, who has just been implicated in the Abraham Lincoln assassination.
Cue more running about, following clues that (eventually) lead to another hidden treasure...
And no, I don't mean Dame Helen Mirren as Ben Gates mum.
