"Last year’s Minding the Gap was a reminder of just how deeply impactful James’s slow-burning, immersive sports tale has been on the world of modern documentary. It’s a perfect example of big-screen nonfiction storytelling: intimate, highly detailed, and shaped by no greater editor than life itself."

"While researching an upcoming book, I read a lot of nonfiction about the wine life. This was the juiciest. (Pun intended.) Victoria James shares the inspiring story of how she overcame the obstacles of her childhood and misogyny to become a 21-year-old sommelier at a Michelin-starred restaurant."

[BOMB] by [Steve Sheinkin] is the story of the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. It is broken into readable chunks and although it is very information heavy it is still interesting. As a YA nonfiction novel it is ok. The topic itself lends itself to being a little dry.

"The nonfiction Nobelist’s oral history of the aftermath of the disaster is among the handful of books I’ve read that were so heartbreaking, so bleak, so poetic, that I couldn’t stomach more than a few pages at a time. It’s literally radioactive and really did a number on me. Read at your own peril."

"I can remember the exact theaters I saw Spike Lee movies in since I was in college, which I can’t say for any other director’s films. “BlacKkKlansman” is no exception. The theater was SILENT for the last five minutes, when the film jumps from fiction to nonfiction. It’s a brilliant choice only Spike would have done."

"Nonfiction that reads like Jackie Collins, “Air Guitar” is the contemporary classic in cultural criticism, and further to that, more of a celebration than a critique on the cringe-worthy. You might never love being American more than after you read this. The section "Unbreak My Heart, An Overture,” has loosely defined my practice and life."
