Mum seeks revenge for murder of her family
Pretty much knew what I was going to get watching this but decided to give it a go none the less.
Jennifer Garner witnesses her husband and daughter slaughtered and decides to go after those responsible and their boss when the court decides they should have no case to answer.
The usual revenge movie cliches are all present and correct in this film (corrupt judge..corrupt cop etc) and you pretty much know what to expect once she starts her down her path of own justice.
An ok movie with a good performance by garner.Worth a watch if your in the mood for some good old fashioned action and revenge.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Highlander (1986) in Movies

Cult fantasy movie which kind of flopped on its initial release but spawned a franchise which seemed to go on forever (and may not in fact be completely defunct). Scottish highlander (played by a Frenchman) discovers he is immortal; is mentored by ancient Egyptian immortal (played by a Scotsman); must do battle with rival Russian immortal (played by an American) to decide the destiny of the world.
Pretty much as goofy as it sounds, but very likeable - strives for a sort of mythic grandeur, doesn't quite manage it. None of the battles in the story are quite as brutal as the one between Christopher Lambert and the English language, but Sean Connery is having fun; some decent fight choreography too. Benefits immensely from the Queen soundtrack.

Dull and boring
I'm struggling to figure out exactly what they were trying to achieve with this film. Location-wise it is absolutely beautiful, in such a picturesque setting. And the acting for the most part isn't too bad. The main issue with this is the plot, it just completely dull and boring and isn't even wrapped up well at the end. There's a lot of weird odd things going on but none of these are particularly well done. Some parts of this were vaguely creepy, but others happened too fast or were dwelled on for far too long. And let's face it, people facing off against killers and creeps lurking inside their own houses has been done to death. This is nothing new or special.

JLaw and the rednecks
Before she was "JLaw", Jennifer Lawrence garnered an Oscar nomination for this Best Picture nominee from 2010 about a young girl trying to find her delinquent father and trying to keep her family together at the same time.
Tensions rise quickly among the local townsfolk when the girl starts asking questions to try and figure out his whereabouts so she doesn't have to lose the family home to foreclosure.
Great acting and writing and overall look of this bleak film where none of the characters are very savory. The young girl's journey is interesting and has some twists and turns before she finally figures things out.
I liked it a lot.

An omnibus collection of 3 Buffy stories, set at different times during the course of the TV series. Having said that, in all 3 of these stories, Buffy is still at Sunnydale High ...
The first of these has by far the earliest setting, with mention of The Master (the villain in the very first series): I think this was written sometime during series 2. The second novel includes Spike and Drusilla and Jenny Calendar, while the third has mention of The Magic Box but is before that had a larger role in the series.
None of the three stories were that great or were that well written, unfortunatley: I got the distinct impression they were aimed at American teenagers more than anything else!

Huh. I thought the story had ended.
Maybe A will hook up with Gossip Girl and they'll take on corrupt politicians?
***STOP! HERE THERE BE SPOILERS***
Now, that I've read the book. Am I the only one that kinda thinks with all the A shenanigans, the girls would never, ever keep a secret as long as they lived?
Seriously, some chick who looks like Ali (sort of) shows up in Jamaica and NONE of them think to send a pic in anonymously to a tabloid site? The conspiracy theorists are legion and somebody would have dug up something on Tabitha.
Also, it took a freaking year for the body to wash up? I find that pretty suspicious.
Poor Hanna. She's always been my favorite.

Not my Joker, but still a great one
Not my Joker, but still a great one none the less. I am a fan of a Ledger Joker and that story. This movie was more disturbing and scary than the Friday 13th, and there wasn't even any gore or much killing. Music, scenery, scary clown make-up and laughter...all of it made me feel disgusted. City (Gotham) filled with trash, people hating and willing to beat up everyone just for fun, psychological problems of our main character with no one to help him, humiliation. There is so much going on in this movie, and all of it is dark. Worth watching if you need a little darkness in your life.
