ELLIE AND THE KING'S PANDEMONIUM CANDLE is a standalone book in a world far from our own, where Celestials live with their own rules and boundaries.

Ellie and Gil have been friends forever but it is only when another of Ellie's friends shows interest in Gil that she realises her true feelings. Because of her behaviour though, Gil is engaged to Agatha, leaving Ellie bereft. But then their world changes, with Gil reappearing but wounded, Ellie's panne (father) killed, and the town they live in completely destroyed, together with everyone they know. They are pursued by Kromer, a mad king who wants Ellie.

This story is about growing into yourself, growing into powers, and growing into a relationship. None of that is easy and it all takes work. The focus is on Ellie and Gil for the most part but Kromer does have his role to play. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the ending but I was left with so many unanswered questions. What happened to their world? Do they ever make it back? Did Nola survive? Do they rebuild? How do they rebuild? In other words, I need more stories from this world!

A very different story with its own quirks and foibles, I have no hesitation in definitely recommending it and I really hope for more!

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.

The tagline on this book is "The madman and the nightmare..." and I really can't say better than that. Erin Kellison has managed to make an unlikeable villain into a funny, psycho hero! Vincent knows he is going insane and is enough to admit it. His perfect partner is a nightmare, none other than Didier Lambert's daughter, Mirren.

The story arc that is through all of the books continues in this installment. Didier Lambert is still the evil of the piece but who is the new player that we are hearing about, The Sandman. We learn more about him as we go through with Vince and Mirren. She has grown up hearing about him and believes in him. Vince thinks he is made up and is just the 'boogeyman'. As they journey into the Reve they will found out one way or another. They have allies and friends along the way but will they be able to keep them?

This novella is action-packed, well paced and full of suspense all the way through. This is part of a series so it must be read in order for any of it to make sense but I can highly recommend the whole thing! Once you start, you will want to carry on. Each of the characters we have met before make an appearance, as well as new ones to keep you on your toes. Highly enjoyable and the pages whizz by.

LOST CAUSE is the eighth book in the Life Sucks and it would be handy to have read the others, just so you know the other characters and the bit of backstory that is mentioned.

Frankie says she had a privileged upbringing, but it sounds absolutely horrible. No wonder she left that life behind... or did she? Lex isn't convinced and watches her for a year to see if she's telling the truth. When her father shows up, Lex thinks he's both vindicated in his thoughts and has also caught the criminal who nearly wrecked his life. Is it black and white though?

Of course not! This is an Elise Faber novel! There are some twists and turns to it, but it is clearly laid out and none of it comes as a surprise. I guess the only surprise for me was how easily Frankie accepts Lex's excuses, which is touched on in the story and explained. I know Frankie is supposed to have a 'quiet strength,' but at times, she almost seemed too easy-going - especially with someone as strong-willed as Lex.

This was an enjoyable read where love conquers all and the good guys get the win. So if that's what you're after, you've got the right book. Definitely recommended.

THE NEXUS GAMES is the first book in a new series of the same name that takes you into a game world where kindness is seen as a disadvantage.

Kellen is taken to this world, along with the woman he met that night, Mavis. He is told they have to play the game to get back home. Think of it as a cross between The Hunger Games and Wizard of Oz! It turns out, there is more to the world than Kellen or Mavis ever thought, with other dimensions and different versions of themselves in every dimension.

The team Kellen is playing with is full of secrets -- and you don't get the answers, not in this book! So prepare yourself because you will finish the book with questions unanswered. Also, it ends on a HUGE cliffhanger, so consider yourself warned.

As with all books by this author, the world-building is second to none. You find out what you need to know, when you need to know it. You learn about the magic of this world as Kellen does.

This is a long story so plenty to get your teeth into. It is definitely recommended by me and I can't wait to see where it goes next.

Just one question though, where can I get an albino wyvern?
