Mumble Mumble Mumble Part 3
PG-13, PG-13, PG-13!!!!!! Why đ , why couldnt this one be rating R like the other ones, i just dont understand.
The Plot: Mercenary leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the Expendables team reunite when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) hires them for a seemingly easy job. But things go terribly wrong, compelling the mercenaries to seek revenge for a comrade's murder. With the odds against them, Barney and his team are hell-bent on payback and cut a path of destruction through opposing forces, only to encounter an unexpected threat: six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium.
So which 80's star is in this one? Kellan Lutz, who? Ohh he played Emmett Cullen in the Twight Franchise. Glen Powell, who? Ohh, Im not sure who this is.
Anyways its a good movie, good action, good comedy and over a good time.

This was a solid book, really made me care about Supergirl as a character, something I have not felt since Peter David was writing it! Marc Andreyko has a genuine caring for the character, as she is written strongly, without pandering to the fanboys out there. And while I know Kara is not a real person, under Andreyko's hand, she felt very real!
The story follows up on the tail end of MAN OF STEEL (which, as I said in my review, exceeded my low expectations, helping to have faith anew in Brian Michael Bendis). She says goodbye to her cousin, Kal-El, as she heads to space to follow the trail of Rogol Zaar, and to determine if he was not lying when he claimed to have destroyed Krypton. Best of all, she won't be alone: Krypto will be along for the journey! And what a journey it is!
Some questions are answered, but new ones are generated, as a conspiracy within the Guardians of Oa! There's a lot more to it than just that, but I like my reviews, like my initial readings, to be Spoiler-Free! You'll have to read it for yourself, and I am certain that, like myself, you will not be disappointed!
And speaking of "not being disappointed", let me talk a bit about the equally enjoyable art. The majority of this volume was drawn by Kevin Maguire (who I adored here, as much as his work in the 80s on JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL), but he was also support the likes of Emanuela Lupacchino, Evan "Doc" Shaner, Lan, Medina and a bit of Karl Kesel, too! All involved were totally on their game, turning in art that remained consistent with Maguire's style, so as not to derail the story. Everyone deserves a big, hearty round of applause!
However, there was one thing in it that caused me to give it four Stars, not five. And, that, unfortunately, would be Dan Jurgens' Christmas-themed story. While the message was truly heartfelt and appreciated, the actual dialogue, as well as the story itself, was just not as good as I recall Jurgens being. And that's a damned shame, because some of my best Superman memories involve his stories from the 90s! Ah, memories!
And, that my friends, is a wrap! I hope you will check this one out, as it is the probably one of the best Supergirl stories in far too long! I truly hope DC treats Marc Andreyko right, because he is all aces!

Loved the way Wes fit Matty's foxes into his life.

This book is part of the 2nd season of A Little Christmas. You don't need to read the others, they all stand alone within the series. I would recommend you read Hanging With Daddy, by JP Sayle though before this one. We first met Matty there, he is Gaines' best friend. And since Gaines and his Daddy Austin play a large part here, it might help to have their story first. Not necessary, just a personal point.
Matty keeps picking the bad ones, and now questions everything. Weston comes across the cute little Pumpkin in the park and is smitten. But can Matty let Weston in??
What this is, is a wonderfully written, delightfully told tale of letting someone into your heart, even though you know it might get broken.
It's sweet and smexy, cute and cuddly, and all sorts of things that might take too long to type!
I loved catching up with Gaines and Austin, but also with Terrence and Warner, for the first Little Christmas series. Austin, Warner and Weston turn out to be very close friends, and I loved how they all slot into each other's lives here.
There is very little drama between Wes and Matty. The drama is called by Matty's ex, Putrid Peter. Have to say, that did make me laugh, calling him that but it fits perfectly!
Loved the way Wes fitted Matty's foxes into his life. The plates were a particularly cute touch. But Weston wants Matty happy, and he will do what Matty needs him to.
I did like being made to wait for the main event though! While there are smexy, steamy times, they don't go all the way til very near the end of the book, and I loved that!
I loved it, exercises and all! (But I'm with Matty on that front, walking is enough :-) )

<i>Oliver the Ornament </i>touched me in ways I cannot even explain. From the feel of the paper to the colorful illustration, to the thoughtful words. This book pulls you in and stays with you long after you have read it. Todd M. Zimmermann did a phenomenal job with the ideas he conveys in this book and I know it will be one I pass down for many generations to come.
When I first picked up <i>Oliver the Ornament </i> to read, I expected just another book about Christmas. What I got was so much more. Oliver pulled me into his story with his friends and family so much so that by the time I was done I could not stop thinking about my own cherished Christmas ornament memories. The story was easy to read, although more of a 7+ age range in terms of page length, but so engaging and colorful. I loved the page layouts and enjoyed the twists the author/illustrator used to interactively engage with the audience. The themes of always having something positive to say to others, the consequences of bullying, and remembering to hold on to memories no matter how small they may seem combined made this an endearing story. I also am thankful for the author's thoughtfulness in providing a place to write my own ornament stories in the back of the book. But I cannot forget one of the most important interactive aspects of the story, Oliver the ornament himself! He is well made, heavy-duty, and when I look at my tree now, I am reminded that <i>âEvery Ornament Tells A Storyâ</i>.
This is one of my favorite Christmas stories ever as it encourages remembrance, communication between parents and their kids, and the themes of forgiveness, dealing with bullying, and the art of storytelling. I <b>HIGHLY</b> recommend this book for any age to read and enjoy. 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Review | It's a Wonderful by Julia Williams
Before I opened the book I was amazed by the beautiful cover. I loved I received this right before the Christmas holidays.
This book is set from 3 characters point of view Beth, Bethâs Sister Lou, and Bethâs Husband Daniel.
Beth as everything she wants a perfect life, perfect job and a perfect husband and 2 children, Sam and Megan. But not everything is perfect as Beth doesnât feel that her husband Daniel doesnât support her job picture-book artist. But when she is struggling to get the ideas flowing and she doesnât get along with her editor Vanessa. Vanessa brings in help has the new art director and old flame of Beth called Jack Stevens. When she sees him she is transported back to when they were in college and she starts to contemplate if she was still with Jack what her life would be like, she canât get Jack out her mind. Will Beth be tempted to have an affair with Jack? When he tells her that he made mistake in the past.
While Beth is struggling to get inspiration on her book and her mind is on Jack her husband is struggling with his new job as a head teacher for a school want needs help as they had bad results from Ofsted. Daniel is struggling to balance school and handle his children he hardly sees as they have grown up, Sam keeps getting drunk hanging out with his friends and doesnât care about his GCSEâs and Megan is also hanging out with the wrong people. He just wants a better life with them than he did with his father. Danielâs father Reggie comes back into his life trying to build bridges but he doesnât want anything to do with him. But Reggie wants to see his grandchildren. So when Sam and Megan meet him they want him to be back in their dadâs life and Sam starts to bond and they have a lot in common as they both creative and love music. This is where it breaks the family apart as Sam, Megan and Beth want Daniel to hear his dad out and see why he left him when he was younger. You see Danielâs past and how he feels toward his dad and he wants to build bridges with his dad but he's scared that he will walk out of all their lives. Will he forgive his dad and find out what truly happened and why he left?
Bethâs sister Lou is going through a bad patch in her life and her also as a big secret from her family. She just feels that her family especially her mum and dad wouldnât like that she feels attraction to other women. She feels that she's the black sheep of the family as Beth is the âperfectâ one and their brother Ged is the âgoldenâ boy and never does anything wrong. She's going through a break up from her Girlfriend Jo as she felt that their relationship was one way as Jo never had time for her. Lou also lost her job so she had to move back in with her mum and dad. But when she moved in she notices something wrong with their mum and dad. It turned out that their dad was having an affair with women from an art class. Lou felt her life and her parent's lives are falling apart. You feel sorry for her as you want her to have a happy life. Will their parents accept that she feels more attractive to women?
As you can see the book is based around Christmas and being with their family but everything seems perfect on the outside but once you get reading into the book you see that be careful what you wish for.
This book was a heartwarming book and I canât wait to read more of Julia Williams books. She really grabbed me into their world and it shows me that all families arenât perfect. I felt their mum is like mine as my mum always plans in advance for Christmas.
I will make sure to purchase more of her books as she grabbed me from the first page and it made me feel all warm inside.

Dr. Seuss lite
Everyone knows & loves Chuck Jones' animated version from the 60s & I'm sure most people know the live-action Jim Carrey version as well. Whether you like that one or not is up to you. I did like it. Anyway, here we get a new animated version, full-length movie. How is it? Well, it's hit & miss.
Let's start with the Grinch himself. He's kind of toned down in this version & not really as mean as he should be. Yeah, sure he tries to stop Christmas, but his reasoning for it is different than the original. But we deal with it because he still wants to stop Christmas from coming. He almost seems like he's a nice guy pretending to be mean.
One of the greatest things in the original animated version is the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" sung by Thurl Ravenscroft. Even the Jim Carrey version, was good. But the version in this film is absolutely horrendous. It borders on annoying. Actually, it may have crossed the border. The only thing saving it was they only used about 4 lines from the song.
My main problem with the movie is it's Dr. Seuss lite. What I mean by that is that they hardly use any of Seuss' crazy language. I remember words like floo-floobers, kazay, zoozits, tar-tinkers & things like that. There was nothing like that in this film. Even lines from the book were hardly used. It doesn't feel like Dr. Seuss at all. It's almost like they never read the book. They changed the story, the ending & add useless characters like Fred the reindeer.
As for the good. Well, the voice acting is good & the animation is very good. The story works well enough, even with the changes. All in all, it is enjoyable. It's not as good as the Jim Carrey version & nowhere near as good as the Chuck Jones version. Would I watch it again. Maybe. But I'd watch the others before this one.

Gavin wants to settle down after serving in the Air Force and mend the separation between him and his dad. What he didnât count on is his changing feelings when he sees Cami as a kind woman instead of his former adversary.
When Camiâs son blindsides them both during the Christmas season, is their reunion at risk or will it grow stronger?
My Thoughts: A wonderful book just in time for the holidays! This book was an enjoyable read that is full of many lessons. This novel is not only about family, forgiveness and letting go, but also about bullying and what it can create. Bullying, name calling is something I believe we have all faced at one time in our lives. Beautifully written with a flowing storyline that keeps the reader interested.
The characters are interesting, down to earth and easy to relate to. This is an enjoyable romance novel with lessons to learn that the reader can read during the holiday season or any time of the year! I look forward to reading more from Elaine Stock.

Some good comedy moments drowned in schmaltz.
Comedy and tragedy have always gone together hand-in-hand. Every great comedy tends to have its bitter-sweet moments: Roberts Blossom as the âshovel-killerâ grandad in âHome Aloneâ (who always reminds me of my late Dad⌠in appearance I might add, not that he was a shovel killer!); John Candyâs depressed shower-ring salesman in âPlanes Trains and Automobilesâ; Ron Burgundy bawling in a phone box in âAnchormanâ. The balance between the two is the key thing and comedies can sometimes get it wrong (the Bird Woman in âHome Alone 2â for example!).
Here is another case in point: âDaddyâs Home 2â, which has some laugh-out-loud comedy moments, but is generally so utterly drenched in schmaltz and sentimentality that the film becomes far harder work than it should be. (By the way, I never saw âDaddyâs Homeâ (but read the IMDB synopsys): it was not a prerequisite for seeing this movie).

Will Ferrell (âGet Hardâ, âAnchormanâ) reprises his role as the somewhat incompetent Brad, âsharingâ his family of kids and stepkids with the much more streetwise Dusty (Mark Wahlberg, âPatriotâs Dayâ). After a poignant school recital, the pair realise the damage that a distributed Christmas is doing to their offspring and they determine to spend Christmas all together this year. In the process they vow to try to put aside their attempts at one-upmanship â âthe harbour is closedâ â in the interests of giving everyone the best Christmas ever.
But their plans are turned upside down when their fathers also turn up for Christmas: Mel Gibson (in a sublime piece of casting) plays Dustyâs dad, astronaut-hero Kurt, who is even more macho and extreme than Dusty, and John Lithgow (âMiss Sloaneâ; âThe Accountantâ) plays Bradâs airy-fairy father Don⌠the apple has not fallen far from the tree there.
Kurt forces the family to âfightâ Christmas on a neutral turf by renting a palatial AirBnB in a snowy wilderness. Tensions rise between the diverse individuals until a breaking point is inevitably reached.
There are some great farcical sight-gags in this movie. Quite a few of the funniest ones are spoiled by the trailer, but there are still a few standout routines that made me guffaw. A hi-tech shower is predictable but funny; and Bradâs use of a snowblower to apocalyptic ends is the funniest scene in the movie.
Wahlberg and Ferrell are a trustworthy double act (after their initial surprise pairing in âThe Other Guysâ). Gibson and Lithgow also inhabit their roles perfectly, although it was hard of me to relate to either of them. The scene on the airport escalator as they arrive is very well done.
The supporting cast all play their parts well: ERâs Linda Cardellini as Bradâs wife and Dustyâs ex-wife; Brazilian model and actress Alessandra Ambrosio, as Dustyâs (almost unbelievably good-looking) new wife Karen; and WWE star John Cena as Karenâs ex-husband. What drowns out the comedy though is the sentimental storyline around a personal tragedy being lived out by one of the family. The angst and nasty back-biting that surrounds this I found neither funny nor pleasant. The story builds to a snow-bound cinema (showing âMissile Towâ starring Liam Neeson⌠a great âpointless answerâ for the BBCâs âPointlessâ quiz!) and a finale song that is just so over the top that it has both an âawwwâ factor and is bile-inducing all at the same time. The screenplay is by Sean Anders and John Morris, with Anders also directing.
Will Ferrell films can be like a game of Russian Roulette, and I fully expected this to be truly awful. It wasnât, and as a Christmas comedy it is an OK watch⌠and thankfully significantly above âJingle all the Wayâ!
Here is another case in point: âDaddyâs Home 2â, which has some laugh-out-loud comedy moments, but is generally so utterly drenched in schmaltz and sentimentality that the film becomes far harder work than it should be. (By the way, I never saw âDaddyâs Homeâ (but read the IMDB synopsys): it was not a prerequisite for seeing this movie).

Will Ferrell (âGet Hardâ, âAnchormanâ) reprises his role as the somewhat incompetent Brad, âsharingâ his family of kids and stepkids with the much more streetwise Dusty (Mark Wahlberg, âPatriotâs Dayâ). After a poignant school recital, the pair realise the damage that a distributed Christmas is doing to their offspring and they determine to spend Christmas all together this year. In the process they vow to try to put aside their attempts at one-upmanship â âthe harbour is closedâ â in the interests of giving everyone the best Christmas ever.
But their plans are turned upside down when their fathers also turn up for Christmas: Mel Gibson (in a sublime piece of casting) plays Dustyâs dad, astronaut-hero Kurt, who is even more macho and extreme than Dusty, and John Lithgow (âMiss Sloaneâ; âThe Accountantâ) plays Bradâs airy-fairy father Don⌠the apple has not fallen far from the tree there.
Kurt forces the family to âfightâ Christmas on a neutral turf by renting a palatial AirBnB in a snowy wilderness. Tensions rise between the diverse individuals until a breaking point is inevitably reached.
There are some great farcical sight-gags in this movie. Quite a few of the funniest ones are spoiled by the trailer, but there are still a few standout routines that made me guffaw. A hi-tech shower is predictable but funny; and Bradâs use of a snowblower to apocalyptic ends is the funniest scene in the movie.
Wahlberg and Ferrell are a trustworthy double act (after their initial surprise pairing in âThe Other Guysâ). Gibson and Lithgow also inhabit their roles perfectly, although it was hard of me to relate to either of them. The scene on the airport escalator as they arrive is very well done.
The supporting cast all play their parts well: ERâs Linda Cardellini as Bradâs wife and Dustyâs ex-wife; Brazilian model and actress Alessandra Ambrosio, as Dustyâs (almost unbelievably good-looking) new wife Karen; and WWE star John Cena as Karenâs ex-husband. i had another hissy fit!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 6 in the Manx Cat Guardians series, and you really SHOULD read the other books first. There is MUCH referenced to, but not fully explained, from those books, and you will need to know whatâs happened before now. And, you know, I TOLD you to!
Nick has had an attraction to his brotherâs best friend, Brody, since he was a child. Now, on the Isle of Man, working on Aaden and Gregâs new kitchen, with Brody in close proximity, Nick can no longer hide his feelings. Brodyâs reaction to Nick at Christmas has him questioning everything he ever thought about the squirt. When a certain witchy-poo's involvement in both menâs feelings come to light, and that spell is lifted, Brody is confused about some things, but he knows this: Nick is HIS. They just need to get to the bottom of Brodyâs true feelings, what Nick thinks happened all that time ago, and just how deep that witch went with her spell.
So, yes, book 6, but Iâve been awaiting this one since we met Nick and Brody in book 4, Searching For A Soul to Love. Nick is Aadenâs younger brother and Brody his best friend. There were some hints to this book in that one, and a development in 12 Disasters of Christmas and this one does not disappoint!
Well, it DOES, just a tad, and Iâm being petty, I know but these books tend to bring out my darkest thoughts, and also the most extreme! I wanted Nick and Brody to get together FAR sooner in this book! They do get together, I just had to wait til nearly the end for the main event! Oh donât get me wrong, its sexy, and steamy and hawt as hell in places, but for the final joining of their souls and bodies? FAR too long I had to wait! And this is why I canât stretch to 5 stars!
Everyone has a say, EVERYONE! Brody and Nick, mostly, but some of the other guys get a few minutes too. We also get a lot of that witchy-poo, Christina, and how she spelled Brody and Nick all that time ago, and WHY she did it. And now sheâs paying the price for that: but she was warned! She is working off her penance, helping to find out who is trying to sabotage Greg at work and she wants her magic back. She does NOT like feeling human! Some amusing moments, though, for Christina and her body without magic.
King Manannan has a say, and we get how he feels about said witch. Which was totally unexpected! I did not see that coming! There are a lot of HINTS about what Christina is to the King, and about something that her father did to her as a child, but these are not fully explained and I wanted to know! Again, the extremes these books drag out of me! I was like, JUST BLOODY TELL ME!! And Ms Sayle, in true fashion, does not tell me, and so again, I spat me dummy out and threw my toys out the pram and everything, A-BLOODY-GAIN!
And we meet Ellie, and Cam, who are the stars of the next book. And even though THEY didnât meet each other, I have a feeling their book will be quite explosive. So, write quicker, please!
Because I had to wait so bloody long for the main event, and because my questions about the King and Christina are NOT answered (but I think HERE, everyone will be asking questions about those two!) I can only stretch to..
