Sarah (7800 KP) rated Love...Under Different Skies in Books

Another fun instalment
As ive said before, Nick Spalding will never win any literary prizes for this series of books, he really does well to sum up real life situations and emotions. The writing is good but what really makes this story entertaining is the characters. Laura and Jamie are a very relatable couple and their diary/blog entries are so down to earth and realistic. I doubt anyone could read this book (or any others in the series) and not find a handful of comments, thoughts or situations that they’ve experienced in their own life. This story is also pretty funny and I found myself laughing out loud on many occasions.
It may not be the most thought provoking or insightful of reads, but this is a great fun and lighthearted story that is refreshingly short. There are parts in this book that are a little far fetched and scepticism does sink in at times, but I that’s really what you expect from a work of fiction. This kept me highly entertained when I had to get public transport into work this week, although I did have to restrain my laughter at times!

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Sex and the Single Vampire (Dark Ones #2) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
I enjoyed Sex and the Single Vampire much more than A Girl's Guide to Vampires. Allie was a refreshing change from Katie MacAlister's usual heroines - she was smart, not hyperactive, and an interesting person. And of course Christian was just as intriguing as he was in the previous book of the series; he made the perfect hero ('nuff said). The plot was very well-done, as was the pace. Unfortunately, Roxy was still an annoying, hyperactive puppy, but at least she wasn't in this book as much. The only reason I'm not giving this a five, is that I'm not quite sure if it's a keeper or not. Still, I think I'll hold on to it for a little longer.
Steve Fearon (84 KP) rated Insidious : The Last Key (2018) in Movies

Time to throw away the key for this franchise...
So wow we are onto the 4th film huh?
Oh its another prequel based off of the psychic woman...
This movie is lacklustre, not great on scares, adds little to the mythos other than a few more questions, and is just plain weak.
I don't really have a lot to say on this, I mean its not terrible...its watchable...the sidekicks are starting to really grate by this point...and all the best moments are essentially versions of moments from other Insidious movies.
Only watch if you are a big fan of the series!

Roxanne (13 KP) rated I Feel So Bad I Can't Go on in Books

Out of the whole 'Feeling Low' series, this one has effected me the most as I can relate to it the most. To see how I feel printed on pages in front of me confirms that I'm not the only one who has felt that they can not go on in life. This pocket pick me up book shares life changing information to help you to choose another way other than suicide. There are very valuable websites and numbers available in this book which are there for you to contact if you want or need help. So, if you feel like you just can't go on, no matter what the reason or the cause, please pick up this book.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Blood Charged (Dragon Blood, #3) in Books

So this has taken me a long time to finish, especially considering that this is a Lindsay Buroker book and that I'm a huge fan.
I think I know why though.
I read for the romance element of books and in this we'd already met the characters and they were already couples, so that aspect was already in place and I didn't get to read it happening because it already had.
Lindsay is really good at writing steam-punk books (check out her Emperor's Edge series!) while still adding a romantic side-plot. With this newer series it has previously focused on the romance more but like I mentioned this was slightly lacking in that respect.
The adventure they went on for me wasn't as engaging as some of her other books, which is why it's taken me forever to finish this and I'm not too sure if I want to continue the series if it's following Ridge, Sardelle, Tomolek, Ahn and the rest of the team on the hunt for Dragon blood.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated The Ghoul Next Door (Monster High, #2) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
I loved this one just as much as the first, if not more because of how many more characters are involved. I don't expect anything from this series, so maybe that it why I am not disappointed by the lack of originality and that it's clearly written for a generation younger than me.
It is my guiltiest of guilty pleasures in the reading world. I am not afraid to admit it. The book is filled with stereotypical teens (minus the whole monster factor) that live in a stereotypical world (minus the humans trying to destroy them). Once you accept that this novel is not meant to be the next great American novel filled with thought provoking passages and a great original plot, than you can sit back and enjoy all the ridiculousness. I love it because I take it at face value.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus #4) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
Okay this book was without a doubt the best in the series to date! I absolutely cannot wait for the final book in the series...but I'm not looking forward to the idea that the coming novel may mean the last the literary world gets to hear from Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, & the rest of their friends. This book bounces back & forth between Percy & Annabeth's harrowing journey through Tartarus & the rest of the 7 as they venture through the ancient lands to try to find the Doors of Death on Earth. The book was in fifth gear from page one & didn't let up, even at the end so be prepared. Just like in the third book, the fourth one is left VERY much hanging. Riordan has turned himself into a master of suspense with his cliffhanger endings in this series! Kudos
Dean (6927 KP) rated Fast Five (2011) in Movies
Feb 11, 2018
Fast Five star! The series has gone full circle and this one breathes new life into the series which got stronger with the 4th installment and is bettered by this one! We have even more of the cast from the earlier films including Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson from the second. Not to mention another surprise cameo after the credits to hint at a 6th film!
This one goes from street racing to heist film, but there are plenty of big stunts, fights, sexy girls, humour, a cool soundtrack and of course a range of awesome cars. I love that there are so many ties with the cast and events to the previous films. The Rock is a great addition to the series as the extreme FBI hunter sent to capture them. You couldn't ask for more from an action film!

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Devil Inside (The Lachlan Maclean Thriller Series # 2) in Books
Jan 9, 2022
Not having read the first in this series, I really wasn't sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.
This book is full of strong characters that grow on you as the story develops. They are a disparate bunch of people from various walks of life but they work well together. It did take me a while to get to grips with the story; it was quite confusing to begin with but I think that's because I haven't read the first in the series however, I stuck with it and found it quite absorbing the more it developed.
Full of action and tension, this is a good read and I look forward to reading more in the series so thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.

Naomi (7 KP) rated Pride and Prejudice (2005) in Movies
Dec 14, 2017
I really enjoyed this movie version of Pride & Prejudice. Since it is a feature length movie and not a mini series, it cuts quite a bit from the book but I thought that most of the cast was great and the score was beautiful.
