Lindsay (1807 KP) rated Prairie Song (Hearts Seeking Home, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This book is really good. I loved it from the beginning. You will be reminded of a book from the other series that you may think that it connected to it. It was really intruding. You will learn how to deal with some really serious issues.
The issues are a various of different things. One person in this book can show how they deal with geif and it not all good. You get to experience some things going on Trail as well. I would recommend this book to any one that likes historical fiction, a bit of civil war era, romance.
Though I am not going to make you decide I will let you decide for yourself if you want to read it or not and rate for yourself.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Booked for Trouble (Lighthouse Library Mystery #2) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
This is the second book in the Lighthouse Library Mystery series, but you can jump right in without feeling like you have missed anything. I loved the lighthouse / library setting it feels cozy and calm, at least until a murder takes place right outside. I also liked the cast of characters in this one. Lucy has believable problems, and the supporting cast are a likable bunch. The mystery itself was fast paced and not too obvious. I will definitely go back and read number one in the series.
With a home perched above a library full of books, a lighthouse, a murder, and a library cat this was a perfect cozy read!

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated Gentleman of Her Dreams (Ladies of Distinction, #0.5) in Books
Jan 2, 2019
Miss Charlotte Wilson believes that God has brought her the perfect man to marry, Mr. Hamilton Beckett. But is he truly the gentleman of her dreams? Charlotte has devised a flawless scheme to snatch up the perfect husband. But does she have her sights set on the wrong man?
My review of this novella is short because I don't want to give away too many spoilers. I enjoyed reading this short prequel to Jen Turano's series Ladies of Distinction. It is light and full of humor! An excellent start to this series and I can not wait to read the first book, A Change of Fortune. Jen Turano has quickly become one of my favorite authors. After a Fashion is by far one of my favorite books that I have read this year.

Hazel (2934 KP) rated Rise of the Enemy (The Enemy #2) in Books
Apr 24, 2020
What we have here is another winner from Mr Sinclair and yet another off my to-be-read pile!
Having recently read the first in the series, "Dance With The Enemy", I admit to being a little nervous as to whether this instalment was going to be as good however, I needn't have worried .... this is just as good and had been hooked from start to finish.
With loads of action and suspense, fantastic characters and excellent story, this is a riveting spy thriller and one I would highly recommend. This is the second in the series and although not absolutely essential, I would recommend you read the first ... believe me, you won't be disappointed.
Once again, belated thanks go to Clink Street Publishing and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

BookInspector (124 KP) rated The Doll (Vanessa Michael Munroe, #3) in Books
Sep 24, 2020
Once you start with the series, the only way is forward. So here you go, third book of Vanessa Munroe’s series and of course I liked the book but could’ve been better? The answer is yes. Even though the book had interesting characters it was quite slow paced and Munroe’s amazing abilities didn’t shine that much. Some of Monroe’s decisions were predictable and not very smart. Badford was doing great job in this book and he was the active one this time. I missed the action from Munroe’s side, as she was really passive this time. “The doll” itself was sometimes very annoying and stupid, and it was sad to see Munroe to put up with it. It was interesting and easy to read this book but it was missing the “wow” factor.
ClareR (6129 KP) rated Preacher: Book 1 in Books
Jan 27, 2018
I'm afraid this beats the TV series hands down....
Absolutely brilliant. This has the same characters as the TV series, but that's about where the similarities end! The storyline is an extravaganza of violence, sex, drugs, alcohol and blasphemy! Cassidy is still one of the best characters in the story though, The TV series definitely kept his quirkiness (thankfully).
This isn't for the faint hearted, and those who are very religious may not like it much either. God has done a bunk and The Preacher, who has been possessed by Genesis, has gone looking for him. We meet corrupt, ineffective cops, gangsters, a Saint of Killers, angels, serial killers, and the most dysfunctional family I've ever had the pleasure to read about!! And all in volume one! What on earth will they have to offer us in volume two? Id better get saving my pennies to buy it!

Christina Burdzel (8 KP) rated The Haunting of Hill House- Season 1 in TV
Mar 16, 2019
Not what I expected
Haunting in Hill House, when my daughter recommended this, I admit, the first episode made me almost not wanting to watch another, but I did. And I'm so glad I did. I had both tears and a need for a nightlight while watching this. The only thing that kind of was meh, was some of the secondary actors. The main characters were a nice cast in my opinion, but their husbands and wives, eh they were ok. I really hope there's a second season.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Blood Magic (Dragon Born Alexandria #2) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
So I've been reading this for a week now and I'm not feeling it, which is a disappointment considering i quite enjoyed the first one.
DNF @63%
I think it's the fact that between book 1 and this, it appears I've missed out on quite a lot of stuff. NOTE: It needs to be read in the recommended reading order, not just in the series' order or you miss out on important information
I've struggled along up to here but because I've missed important things, i just can't be bothered to try and understand what's happening. Therefore I'm finally throwing the towel in.

Merissa (13937 KP) rated Hunted (Blood Moon, Texas Shifters #5) in Books
Sep 29, 2023
HUNTED is the fifth book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and we have River and Ellie's story. I would recommend you read this in order as it does have an overall story arc that might be confusing if you don't know how it got to this stage.
River and Ellie have a history together, and it's not always a good one! River had to take Ellie's memories, even though she was his mate, leaving her with crippling anxiety. It's for this reason that Hayden refuses to speak to River and threatens him at every opportunity.
River and Ellie have moved past that - although I'm not exactly sure when. Maybe it was in the past books, but it's been a while since I read those, so I'm not sure. Their relationship did throw me a little in the beginning. Especially the 'projection' sex, when it wasn't always clear that's that what it was.
The overall story arc moves along at a fast pace, with new and old characters helping it along the way. It will be interesting to see what happens in August and Rowan's story, which is up next.
A great addition to the series but definitely recommended to read as a series.

Myst (0 KP) rated Her Quicksilver Lover (Even Gods Fall in Love #6) in Books
Feb 8, 2018
Interesting idea first off, I always like novels where God(s)/Godesss(es) walk around regular people and fall in love. Not that familiar with Roman lore but I digress Norse lore are even worse to follow. Have not read the books before this so I may be a little jaded in that I have no backstory of characters & events. I have read each summary of the books before this. I will do another short review add-on when I finish #1-5. Did not realize this is set in England during the time of Earls, if you are not familiar with historical times in England this may go over your head. Many times I had to stop and Google when they talk about names that sound Roman or historical items, little off-putting but for names they give simple terms to explain it. The blood fever thing is interesting. You could tell there was something going on with the silent partner. Loved how the Roman crew all rallied behind Mercury/Hermes. Loved the humor at the end over the key. Definitely can read this without really knowing past stories which is always a plus! I liked it just thought everything built up too quickly near the end and the wind up to that point very slow. I give it a 4 for the fact jumping into this 6 books in did not confuse me but the build up was slow and ended too quickly at the end.
EDIT: I have since caught up with the series, you really DO NOT need to read the ones before this. There's small nuances/events but it does not distract you.
