Silence Fallen is #10 in the Mercy Briggs series, and honestly, they've started to get a bit boring. Mercy gets into trouble. Mercy gets into SPECIAL trouble that werewolves would have a hard time with, but she's special because she's a coyote shifter, and her abilities give her an edge over the pure strength of werewolves! Mercy antagonizes enemies, escapes, finds her way home. Gets revenge. That's basically the plot of almost every one of these books. I generally like them, but this one in particular fell short. Maybe it's because I haven't read them in a while, but it just lacked the urgency of some of her other adventures.
One thing that really bothered me was the big bad vampire in the beginning - who was creepy as ALL get out - turned out to not be that bad, I guess? They let themselves get used by him to fulfill a plot and weren't mad about it? I would have expected Mercy's pack to take the dude down, no matter the consequences, but that wasn't what they decided to do.
And then, very frustratingly, they revealed something in the last ten pages or so that made me go re-read EVERY SCENE with a certain character and yep, there was no foreshadowing of that AT ALL. And there should have been. That's something the reader should be able to guess, because the viewpoint character knows about it. And it's absolutely not hinted at. So that's frustrating, and changes the meaning of several scenes.
So I'm very meh on this one. I don't know if I'll continue this series. Sometimes series just overdo their lifespan. This should have been wrapped up and moved on to other characters some time ago. The second series in this world, Alpha and Omega, is still pretty good. But maybe it's time to set Mercy aside. Do a series focused on the fae, or the vampires or something.

Harriet "Harry" Blue is a detective with Sydney, Australia police department. When her brother is accused of a terrible crime, her superior sends her away on assignment to keep her out of the way. He sends her to the desert to investigate the disappearance and/or murder of three miners working in the uranium mines. She is given a new partner, but is not sure if she can trust him or anyone. In the middle of the never never, you are one of the hunted, the object is to make it out alive. Will Detective Blue be able to find out who is behind this hideous crime before she becomes a victim herself.
This is a new series by James Patterson and Candice Fox.
I gave this book three stars because I wanted to know more about Harriet. Maybe as the series develops we will get to know Harriet better. We know her "mother was a prostitute and a drug addict." We also find out that she and her brother were in and out of foster homes most of their lives. I love female lead characters and I hope this is a series I will be able to get into and enjoy.
Sent into the hot desert of Australia, Harriet Blue is completely out of her element. The mine is its own community that includes bilbies(prostitutes), a drug dealer, and protesters who are against the mining. It's a tight nit community that doesn't take well to outsiders. While everyone has a fear of the killer, money is much more important than clearing the mine to find a killer. I'm not sure why the story of Harriet's brother was integral to this story, but I hope that story line will develop more over the series.

THE LOST ART OF LIFE MAGIC is the fourth and final book in The Lost Arts series, and I'm going to be honest, when I read that it wasn't told from Perian's perspective, I wasn't a happy bunny. I mean, come on! But knowing how much I loved the other books, I decided to give it a chance, so with a heavy sigh, I opened it up.
O.M.G. What a perfect ending!!!! I was instantly hooked, loving both new character Trill and old love-to-hate Cormal. Only, trouble was, I found myself sympathising with Cormal. What? I mean, how?? You know that phrase about good intentions? Well, it suits him down to a T. And I found my heart melting. Or maybe that was from the steamy scenes? I'm not sure, and it doesn't really matter.
What matters is that you get everything here. It ties the whole series together, steamy scenes, heartfelt scenes, scenes that will make you laugh out loud (Renny and Cormal!), you see old friends, meet new people who annoy you - I'm looking at you, ninth councillor! - and get everything you could possibly want to finish this outstanding series.
You need to start with book one, but honestly, there's not a single reason why you shouldn't. All of these books are amazing, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of them. This whole series is in my re-read pile, because I know I will be returning to this brilliant world again and again.

O.M.G. What a perfect ending!!!! I was instantly hooked, loving both new character Trill and old love-to-hate Cormal. Only, trouble was, I found myself sympathising with Cormal. What? I mean, how?? You know that phrase about good intentions? Well, it suits him down to a T. And I found my heart melting. Or maybe that was from the steamy scenes? I'm not sure, and it doesn't really matter.

It ties the whole series together, steamy scenes, heartfelt scenes, scenes that will make you laugh out loud (Renny and Cormal!), you see old friends, meet new people who annoy you - I'm looking at you, ninth councillor! - and get everything you could possibly want to finish this outstanding series.
You need to start with book one, but honestly, there's not a single reason why you shouldn't. All of these books are amazing, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of them. This whole series is in my re-read pile, because I know I will be returning to this brilliant world again and again.

Oh my gosh!! What a perfect ending for this series! I was hooked from the first book, but I always hate coming to the last one... it seems the reader is always let down somehow. Well, I'm thrilled to say that I was not let down at all (except for the fact that the series is done!)I guess now I have to move on to some of Clare's other books in the hopes that they are just as good & as exquisitely written.
I don't want to say too much & give it away. All I will say is happy endings are always the best!!

Spielberg bowed out of the franchise and Joe Johnston (Jumanji) took over proceedings for this third instalment with composer John Williams also leaving the series.
The script was also not completed by the time the film started shooting which is never a good sign. However, the finished product did have some merits. Sam Neill and Laura Dern’s return to the series was great and the new Spinosaurus proved a fitting antagonist.
But the raptors became cartoon villains and Tea Leoni was just dreadful. At only 80 minutes long, it needed some serious padding out too.

The devil has never been so good
Lucifer morningstar what a charismatic, sinfully hilarious and cheeky little devil! Pun intended ?This series is a must watch for anyone who loves plot twists and turns that will keep you guessing long after the sun goes down. With a kick ass soundtrack to boot lucifer should be a binge watch on everyone's list. Beautifully detailed and with so many character revelations, not just for center stage but for glorious sidelines as well. you won't be able to help falling in love with the whole cast truly a highly rated series and a recommended watch worth every second.

I just loves series. I have already review the first book to this series. I really like learning about Civil War era. I do not know what bring it out or if it the writing. I just enjoy the story behind it. You can learn so much. Why it just a wonderful thing to see the bonds of friendship and what all can bring people together. The stories are all different but it all great to read. To me it just makes me wonder and these stories also take me back in that time era. What life might have been if I was born in that era.

Entry number 5 in The Terminator series: a series that is largely viewed as having gone drastically downhill after the first two superlative instalments, and that is undoubtedly Arnold Schwarzenegger most famous role.
The biggest problem with this one, simply, is that it gave away too much in the trailers prior to it's release: yes, Arnie returns (as a 'good' Terminator who states that he is 'old, not obsolete'), Sarah Connor is recast, time travel again is a key concept, and other characters are found to have changed sides.
Oh, and an (ex)The Doctor (Who) has a starring role - well, I suppose he should be used to timey-wimey shenanigans!

This, really, and as it says on the tin (so to speak) is a collection of short stories penned by the late, great, Sir Terry Pratchett back when he was first starting out on his journalistic career.
So we're talking back, mainly, in the late 1970s and perhaps early 80s, before the Discworld series for which he is most renowned came to be.
As such, none of these are as polished as his later works, although it is interesting to see early glimmers of ideas that would later be fully fleshed out (mainly, but not exclusively, in the Discworld series) in several of these stories.
