This is a second book in Vanessa Munroe series. This new job was very needed, after character’s African adventures. (The Informationist) It makes me feel that author puts a lot of effort in making her research about the environment she is going to write. I loved all the details about the cult she mentioned and I am really glad she wrote this book because it educates people about what might possibly be going on inside such cults and how it makes people feel after they leave them. I do understand it is fictional work, but it was very close to all the documentaries I have seen regarding cults. This book is not very fast paced but there is a lot of insight to how Munroe’s brain works and her ability to integrate in to the situations. The ending could’ve been little more tense, but I was not disappointed with it. It is captivating book, it sucks you in and doesn’t let you down.

The Rules of Enchantment is a steamy fantasy story where good and bad aren't always as clear-cut as you might imagine. It reminded me of a mixture between Harry Potter and Robin of Sherwood - and that is not a bad thing!
Leith and Kyler make for excellent main characters, superbly supported by Rowan. The world-building was wonderful, giving the reader enough information to be able to navigate through the world without it just being an overload of information.
I don't know if this is going to be a series or not but I sincerely hope it is. I would love for Rowan to have his story! And I still need more from Leith and Kyler.
This was a brilliant fantasy story that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

Leith and Kyler make for excellent main characters, superbly supported by Rowan. The world-building was wonderful, giving the reader enough information to be able to navigate through the world without it just being an overload of information.
I don't know if this is going to be a series or not but I sincerely hope it is. I would love for Rowan to have his story! And I still need more from Leith and Kyler.

I first read this not long after it was published, back in the early-to-mid 1990s, at which time I was exactly it's target audience being in my mid teens myself.
By that point, I had already discovered Terry Pratchett's wonderful Discworld novels, but hadn't read many - any? - of his non-Discworld books.
That changed when I read this, which would go on to become the first in his so-called Johnny Maxwell series (comprising this, Johnny and the Dead and Johnny and the Bomb).
Reading this now (in the early 2020s), it still holds up remarkably well, even if it is noticeable how much society has changed: mobile phones weren't really a thing back in the 90s, personal computers were relatively new, the Gulf War was still ongoing ...

I just wasted nearly 2 hours of my life.
Already having issues with Rob Zombie films after he single-handedly tried to kill the Halloween franchise, I went into this one already predisposed to not have a good time watching. But, trying to partake due to my wife's love affair with this movie series, I was open-minded and objective. And then I wasted nearly two hours of my life I'll never get back.
Make no mistake, I get the series. I get the ideas behind Zombie's pet project series. A little comedy, a little horror, a little action flick, and a little bit satire. The violence, language, and nudity is gratuitous throughout, and I am one who can enjoy some violence, language, and nudity.
But this is all nonsensical BS passed off as a film. The film has more plot holes than bullet holes in random people. The characters are caricatures, hollow vessels that carry no weight or consequences. I didn't care who died by whose hand or what happened to anyone. There was blood, gore, boobs, language, and blunts. Time passed.
I don't know. Maybe that's the point. Maybe Zombie should do another film in this series. Or maybe some other pet project that tickles his fancy. Just as long as he leaves Michael Myers and every other quality iconic character alone. Please, Rob, for the love of all that is sacred in film.

Urbane Legend XXI
Bold hard reboot of the Bond series that took it closer to the novels than it had been in generations. Newly-licensed 007 uncovers terrorist financier, beats him at cards, takes a terrible belting in the gentleman's department (emotionally and physically).
Very refreshing (at least at the time) for blowing the barnacles off Bond and going back to source, more or less; Daniel Craig seems to be the first replacement Bond not to on some level be constantly thinking about Sean Connery. Unusually tough and naturalistic, but with the expected (high quality) fights and chases grafted onto Fleming's story. Even at the time one wondered just where this new take on Bond could possibly go next (not terribly far, as it turned out: at least not while staying interesting), but on its own terms this is a thrilling reinvention and a great, credible thriller.

You just have to love a book about gargoyles! There are few of them about and I do enjoy them. This one is slightly different which makes it all the more enjoyable. Sloane sees colours around people and also understands what those colours mean. She has learnt not to speak to anyone about this as she fears being put away in an institute.
Through happenings and occurrences, she finds a group of people who not only accept her for who she is but also recognise and appreciate the talent she has. However, things are not all sunshine yellow as Guardians are going missing. Different aspects of this book all tie together to give a thrilling ride and satisfying conclusion.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book is that it is action/adventure with a hint of romance. Really, the romance is only alluded to and really does play second fiddle to the main story.
I loved the ending, complete with Liam's choice, which I thoroughly understood and approved of! Can't wait to read more in this series. Definitely recommended.

However, things are not all sunshine yellow as Guardians are going missing. Different aspects of this book all tie together to give a thrilling ride and satisfying conclusion.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book is that it is action/adventure with a hint of romance. Really, the romance is only alluded to and really does play second fiddle to the main story.
I loved the ending, complete with Liam's choice, which I thoroughly understood and approved of! Can't wait to read more in this series. Definitely recommended.

This is the first of Karin Slaughter's books that I've checked out. It was a free Friday selection on my Nook & I am glad I downloaded it. It was a satisying mystery. The ending left me wanting to know how Dr. Linton & Jeffery's story continues. They mysetery aspect was well written & not predictable, until very close to the end. All in all it was a worthwhile read & an author & series I will look for in the future.

Quiet, subdued at times, with an explosive ending
This crime series is extremely slow, at times there is no dialogue whatsoever and the viewer is left watching the wondrous landscape of New Zealand. While the quietness is mesmerising at times, it does feel like it takes too long for anything to happen. The ending happens quickly with a lot of unresolved issues. Interesting but not amazing.

Great Gangster TV
I really enjoyed this series, and liked following the characters. I love the idea of razorblades in the hats as not only a signature but as a threatening omnipresent thing. Turning something benign into something sinister. The show has some odd pacing, where it seems to come in spurts, but that also seems to up the tension and you don't know when to expect things sometimes. Great TV, worthy of binge watching
