At first I didn't think I was going to like this book. When I started reading I felt things were happening too quickly, however then the plot completely changed. I did not like this change but as I read on I started to think it was rather a good story line but not one of Jodi Picoult's best.

I also thought that Nathaniel was a bit too intelligent for a five year old. Jodi Picoult said herself in the interview at the back of the book that Nathaniel was wiser than most children his age due to what had happened to him however I still think half the things he said were too wise for someone of his age and had nothing to do with what had happened to him.

This book was not as bad as I had thought it would be when I first began reading it but it definately was not as good as other Jodi Picoult books.

House Broken There a family mystery that Geneva does not understand. Thing go from bad to worse once her mother has an accident and need to recuperate. Geneva is relaxant to do so. Her husband convenience her to bring her mother in to stay.

Geneva start to investigate about the relationship between her older sister Paris and their mother. Geneva mother Helen has dealt with since her eldest daughter turned sixteen. There mother had to do something about it to stop what was going on. That thing see had to do is something Paris and her mother could not forgive her for it.

Ella and Charlies get themselves in trouble as well. Things gets worse after their grandmother comes to stay for a little while. Things start to startle Geneva while her mother starts to put some things together. It a fun read but not for children. It deals with teenage things and adult things. My rating is a  5/5 stars.

A must for Terry Gilliam fans
It's funny how the DVD for this film contains an introduction by the director, Terry Gilliam, basically saying he forgives you if you hate his film because the subject matter is not for everyone. I don't know if I've ever seen that before.

This film definitely does not shy away from controversial subjects like awkward relationships between grown ups and children and the death of a parent with a girl being raised mostly on her own.

After a sudden death, a young girl and her loser father go to live in an abandoned house house in the country. The girl begins to explore her new world, makes some new friends and creates an imaginary world all her own.

I was fascinated by the film, the look, the cinematography, the acting and the story. Certainly not mainstream but well worth a look.
