"We’ve learned that Atwood’s novel should be read…as a warning about patriarchy and its control of reproduction as the underpinning of everything undemocratic."

"Although it was published in 1605, this hilarious and brilliant book seems to contain all the possibilities of the novel in a single volume."

A book destroyed a woman's life
A publisher tells how her writer's final novel destroys her life as she knows it. Magpie Murders is in two parts, the novel and the publisher's story. I read a lot of mystery novels and I can say I did not see this one coming.
