would definitely recommend this book. A novel about the rise of Amunhotep ( Akhnaton) - pharaoh who originated the worship of a single God in Egypt, and his wife Nefertiti. The story is definitely absorbing.

It was okay. Just a short prequel to his new book, The Emperor's Tomb. Don't waste your money on downloading it. Half of the book was the first chapter for the new novel.

"The greatest (gay) novel, translated by its great (gay) translator. I much prefer this original English translation to all the subsequent attempts by others to make it into In Search of Lost Time"

"The fact that Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have been ripped off as Ralph Kramden/Ed Norton and Fred Flintstone/Barney Rubble should tell you something about why this first great novel endures."

"The clarity of prose which Ishiguro achieves in this novel is the treat here. He is a master of the sentence, a sorcerer of language; the writing here is quiet, calm, and mesmerizing."
