Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Loving Husband: You'd Trust Him with Your Life, Wouldn't You...? in Books
Jan 12, 2018
I have previously read one of ChristobelÂ’s novels - The Crooked House - which although I enjoyed I found it a confusing read and I felt the same way about The Loving Husband although there was less enjoyment with this one.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Killing Jesus: A History in Books

I have to say I am completely surprised by how good this book was. It was interesting but easy to follow & easy to read. I am not much on religion & I was engaged throughout the entire book. O'Reilly is a great writer & quite obviously did a great deal of research in putting this together. I am looking forward to reading his other novels.

Another great book by Stevens! Her novels are always quick reads. They are very easy to get hooked in to & the stories are always so true to life. I found myself rooting for Toni through the whole story. She was a likable character despite the guilt & accusations swirling around her & Ryan. I look forward to reading more of her work.
Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated An Honest Thief in Books

Simple straightforward fable
An easy read, contrary to many of Dostoyevsky's novels. The honest thief raises the question of whether it is fine to forgive or accept a lie in some circumstances especially when there are more important things to be worrying about.
Dostoyevsky's short stories are always a joy to read and listen because of the power of his storytelling.

Far Ahead of its Time
While some of it is quite dated, by today's standards, the concepts in this novel were far ahead of its time that make it a relevant and enjoyable read decades later. I just got my copy back from my son, a graduating senior and fellow bookworm, who rated it one of his top 3 novels ever read.
Robert Schwabe (3 KP) rated The Lies of Locke Lamora in Books

Deeply rich characters and settings. (2 more)
The author, Scott Lynch, writes this book in a way that the words drip off of the page like fine liqueur.
Fantasy novels are either cliché and familiar, or try to forcibly break the traditional. This novel is at the same time familiar and yet unique.
One of the best books I've read in years
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2568 KP) rated Thrown Out: Stories from Exeter in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Four short stories set in a small, college town in Massachusetts that focus on the characters who live there. I really enjoyed meeting them and look forward to getting to know them better in the novels she is also setting there. NOTE: I was sent this book in exchange for my honest review.

Dana (24 KP) rated Whispers at Moonrise (Shadow Falls, #4) in Books
Mar 23, 2018
As with the previous three novels, I really enjoyed how it was written. The plot development was well thought out and the characters had a good amount of dynamics between them. The ghosts were, like all fo the others, infuriating but interesting. I can't wait to see who this new ghost is and what is going to happen with Kylie.
Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated House of the Hanging Jade in Books
Feb 21, 2018
House of the Hanging Jade is a suspenseful tale of murder and obsession, all taking place against a beautiful Hawaiian backdrop. Lush descriptions of both the scenery and the food prepared by the protagonist leave you wanting more. Fans of both gothic romance and mystery novels should enjoy this story.

Great Series Opener
The heat between Erica and Blake is great. The plot is similar to 50 Shades, but it kept me on my toes.
