Elizabeth Ann Brough (5 KP) rated The Other Queen (The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels, #15) in Books

One of Philippa Gregory's Best
Philippa Gregory may have her critics, but I am not one of them. This is one of my favourite novels of hers and she does a great job of introducing the reader to the formidable Bess of Hardwick, a figure from history that I knew next to nothing about, but who was a witness to, and a part of, some important moments in history. One thing that I like about Philippa Gregory is that she is honest about how she "fills in the gaps" of history to craft her novels - her Author's notes at the end of her works always explain this and sometimes detail how it was done. I often reread Philippa's work and I'm definitely going to go back to this, it's been too long.

Andy K (10823 KP) rated Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) in Movies
Dec 14, 2017
The Clone Wars movie was basically just an extension of the TV series which I didn't watch much of, but it was decent. It makes me wonder if other Star Wars TV movies would do well.
I would love to see animated adaptations of the Timothy Zahn novels, but that probably will not happen.
This Clone Wars film can still be enjoyed by Star Wars fans young and old.

Frecklesxoxo (6 KP) rated Faking Friends in Books

I really loved this book. It had me hooked from the start, it was funny, realistic and had the right amount of revenge in it.
The characters are really well fleshed out and you really route for Amy and Kat & Greg. I don't want to give any spoilers but I love the overall message about what friendship actually is and I highly recommend this book!
I'll be looking for other novels Jane Fallon has written :)

Auburn (57 KP) rated Her Book Boyfriend (The Awkward Duckling #1) in Books
Apr 10, 2019
Macey is a naive high schooler who wants to find a date to prom. She reads way to much and decides to use 10 steps from her favorite romance novels in order to get a boy for prom.
This is a short, sweet, and uniquely funny book. The premise is cute and while Macey is beyond naive towards the true love it is so short it doesn't matter.

Ande Thomas (69 KP) rated Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse, #1) in Books
May 30, 2019
Ahem. I had previously said that Dennis E. Taylor's Bobiverse series was one of the best modern SF universes to be put on page. And I still think that's probably true. But The Expanse really tests my resolve. Even if only by sheer volume and brute force, these novels really throw you for a loop and in my opinion, truly worthy of the title of Game of Thrones in space.
ArecRain (8 KP) rated Dark Hunger (Manga Version of Carpathians, #14) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
Compared to her other works, this book lacked plot-line and development. I understand that it was much shorter than her other actual novels, but if they wanted to make a "good" manga, they shouldn't have either made it longer or added more manga to it. They it is honestly kind of pathetic in it's construction. On top, of that the artwork could have been better. Just like the plot-line, there was little detail.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2568 KP) rated Mr. Monk and The Two Assistants (Mr. Monk, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The fourth of the Monk tie-in novels answers the question, What would happen is Sharona returned? His former assistant accidentally comes back into his life after her husband is arrested for murder. At Natalie's urging, Monk begins to look into it the case. This is another fun entry and will please fans of the TV series.
