There Will Be Blood (2007)

"The first one is Paul Thomas Anderson and There Will Be Blood. I had seen that movie at a very crucial point in my life. I had just torn my shoulder in wrestling, and it was like the world had fallen away from me. Like a lot in the movie is autobiographical. So yeah, I was really kind of lost. And then I saw There Will Be Blood in the theater, and it rocked my world. It blew my mind. The first Paul Thomas Anderson movie I saw was Boogie Nights at a really young age, and it was perfect for an adolescent. But it also made me realize there’s a creator behind all this. I was transported and inspired. That was when I started getting back into filmmaking and loving movies again. Because I couldn’t do sports. That movie was really huge for that."

"I read this book in high school when it was first published. It had the reputation of being “dirty.” It did not disappoint: I was all of 14. It was also deliciously funny. It still is. Its status is secure and I doubt there’s a “Best” list it’s not on. It’s wildly romantic, scathingly satiric of middle-class Americans as only a European aristocrat can see us, and ultimately deeply moving. Lolita is the light of everyone’s loins. Humbert Humbert’s despair is anyone’s who has loved and lost in vain. Nabokov “gets” America and Americans. He is one of the great writers in English and it wasn’t even his first language."

one of katherine heigl's best
I really liked this movie! I was really surprised by the ratings from critics and other people, I thought it was super cute. Sure, it was predictable, but it was still a really cute movie. It had a few hidden gems in there - "Having someone help you doesn't mean you've failed. It just means you're not in it alone." I think that Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl are great together. I can't say enough good things!

Everyone knows that my reviews always have a favorite character - almost always a supporting character and in this film it was Janine. She was so funny and when she cried? I lost it. I loved this film. It's an easy watch, it's a cute rom-com, great for a night in with some wine and popcorn!

Beautiful
I absolutely loved I Have Lost my Way by Gayle Forman. This was a beautifully written contemporary novel that I will be reading over and over again. The cover is simple and beautiful and once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. This is a heartbreaking story of three very different people who have lost their way in life in different ways. They meet very unexpectedly and at just the right moment to help each other when they need it most. The characters find hope in the darkness and help one another find their way again. I loved the end of the story, it was wrapped up wonderfully for me, not with a perfect pretty bow, but with a very real, relatable ending. I would definitely recommend this novel.

I am not quite sure how to go about this review. On one hand, the world was so intricate and detailed that, at time, I felt lost. There is a lot going on, and if you blink, you too will become lost. If you take the time to actually read and take in each word, you are rewarded with a rich world as well as mythology. Sometimes, the detailed flowery prose can be too much, and sometimes it’s just right.

It’s hard explain this novel without giving anything away. If the description sounds like something that would interest you, then I suggest you try it out.

I was eleven when I met Chase Adams. I loved him before I knew what lovin' was.
I pulled, he pushed.
I gave, he took.
I loved... I lost.
Now he's back. All grown up and sexy as sin.
But things changed while he was gone.
So, he can show those dimples and flex those muscles all he wants.
It won't change a thing.
Chase Adams is nothin' but a lost memory. I'll do everything I can to keep him that way.

Chase
Growing up, there were only two women I ever loved.
Neither one of them ever really loved me back.
Until her. Alina. My Goldi.
She was everything that's good. I was the bad.
She was the brightest goddamn star. I was the black hole shredding her to pieces.
I loved her wrong, losing her to my demons.
But now I'm back. A better man.
I'll do everything I can to make her remember us, even if all she wants is to forget.

I’m not usually a big romance fan I like some but it’s not my go to, but this was so good I really enjoyed it the start was a bit ropey but I really couldn’t put it down once it got going.
It was a lighthearted read with a happy ending!

You're welcome Rick Riordan. Why you ask? Well for purchasing TWO copies of this book...I lost the first one when I was about 75 pages in while on vacation. So of course I had to get another so I could finish it! That being said, I enjoyed this book but, then again, there's not a book by him that I haven't enjoyed. Looking forward to see how Leo, Calypso, & Apollo get along!
