Dark, gritty, realistic
A great mini series centred around the opium trafficking that originated from Pakistan. Various characters including business men and politicians become embroiled in a very complicated and convoluted plot that seeks to stop to stem the flow of opium being trafficked.

"A great and tragic love story set against the social upheavals in Russia in the 1870s. Like “The Great Gatsby,” this is a book I’ve read three times in my life. I read it maybe five years ago and realized for the first time that Anna Karenina was an opium addict."

Easy to read fictional story based on real murders commited at the same time as jack the ripper. focusing on three characters. The author depicts the seedier side of london with the opium dens and the prospect of fear and death around every corner. wonderfully atmospheric. can`t wait for the next book for the further adventures of Dr Bond

Battling with insomnia, and his addictions to Laudanum and the Opium dens of London, Dr Bond, (a) Police Surgeon, is assigned to help identify (the) mutilated female corpses'-inspired by true events-The Thames Torso Murders-found in the gaslit Victorian era of London.

Jack the Ripper is the accused but Dr Bond believes the eerie deaths are the works of somebody, or something else and sets out to find whoever, or whatever, it is.

Based on true events, Sarah Pinborough has added a supernatural ending.
