David McK (3791 KP) rated Razor's Edge (Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion, #1) in Books
May 26, 2026
Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion.
The name now given to those novels set roughly during the period of the original movies.
And with me being unsure, I have to say, whether this particular entry is still considered Canon, or if it had been given 'Legend' (aka the old EU) status.
Anyway, this is set after the events of A New Hope but before those of The Empire Strikes Back, and largely focuses on Leia Organa's response to the situation when she uncovers the fact that a group of pirates, preying on victims in the Outer Rim, are all survivors of Alderaan (and some of whom blame her for the destruction of said planet).
With passages also told from the point of view of Han Solo and, to a lesser extent, Luke Skywalker, this thus very much follows the original trio of stars from the original trilogy.
It's just a pity that I never really got the sense that it *was* Leia, Han or Luke - I can't really put my finger on it, but - to me - there just seemed something 'off' slightly.
Still, other readers mileage may vary!

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Walking Out (2017) in Movies
Oct 1, 2017
Walking Out, a sublimely beautiful tale of father-son bonding in the Montana wilderness. Transitioning from testy estrangement to a serious state of emergency, the movie packs an impressive amount of psychology within its bare-bones plot

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2001) in Movies
Oct 5, 2017
''O Brother, Where Art Thou?'' similarly offers a fairy-tale view of an America in which the real brutalities of poverty and racism are magically dissolved by the power of song.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Obvious Child (2014) in Movies
Oct 5, 2017
Don’t let anyone scare you away from “Obvious Child” on political grounds; ultimately, this is a movie about life and how we live it. And how we sometimes tell embarrassing jokes about our drawers.

MusicCritics (472 KP) rated The Amulet by Circa Survive in Music
Oct 5, 2017
Circa just sound oddly restrained, in a way, and the most enthralling moments don’t feel quite as emotionally resonant or grabbing as the band’s been so capable of in the past, especially with a slower pace down the stretch.

GameCritics (290 KP) rated Dark Souls II in Video Games
Oct 10, 2017
Before playing, we felt ready to say goodbye to the series, looking forward to whatever From Software gave us next. Yet after finishing, it's hard not wanting more. Few companies can craft a world so completely enthralling.

GameCritics (290 KP) rated Kentucky Route Zero Act IV in Video Games
Oct 10, 2017
The best adventures are ones where the location — physically and mentally — one begins and where one ends up are shockingly, violently different. Kentucky Route Zero embodies this notion as the characters (and the player) disappear into the night.
