Better than expected
Carrying on from the old National Lampoon's Vacation series of films. I didn't expect much from this to be honest but found it a lot funnier than I expected. Some good cameos as well. Although it's not as funny as the original, which is hilarious, this does a good enough job of re-creating the fun of the Vacation films.

"Whoa! From the very beginning, it is the original soap opera, and I loved every second of the drama! To watch a writer like Dickens yet again (I had already read “Great Expectations,”) weave so many characters’ storylines together with one another… This book required you to pay attention to every character and every word and served to remind this: no person or thing is insignificant."

"They were a contemporary of mine and were the British equivalent of The Band. They were incredibly original with songs that still sound good today. I record very few covers, but one of them is on my new album – a Gary Brooker and Keith Reid song called The Devil Came From Kansas. I just wanted to pay a tribute to a great British band."

Entertaining Adventure
A fun enjoyable adventure film that felt like a mix of Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. It has a likable cast, some good action scenes and very good Sfx. The story isn't original by any means but the mix of fantasy and old legends is a nice addition. Definitely one to see on the big screen.

Kermit the frog
Rewatching on Disney + In time for the muppets show on Friday it's basically the origins of Kermit and the gang and how they got together amazing songs including rainbow connection and all the cool cameos from several familiar faces always liked the muppets going back to the original TV show in the late 70s which I will be watching this weekend

"The opening scene was almost enough to make me not watch the rest of it. Images of illegally exhumed corpses, grotesquely draped over their own tombstones, set the tone for this classic. What I really like about this movie in particular is its relentlessness. Once the horror starts, it never lets up, and that’s something we kept in mind when shooting the original Evil Dead."

"Read this memoir for a glimpse of a vanished country (ours, circa 1940s/1950s/1960s) that had an entirely different notion of education and the arts, i.e., a country that valued them and honored them and supported them with money and muscular institutions, which institutions, in turn, produced courageous and original national artists like Glass – who is also, turns out, a wonderfully gifted, honest, and amiable writer."

"It’s a really amazing orchestral arrangement, which I think is actually an improvement on the original recording. It’s a total reimagining and it’s got a really beautiful clarinet part in it and takes what is a simple rock’n’roll song and turns it into something really special. It sounds like it’s from the soundtrack to The Wind In The Willows or something, just really forest-y and dreamy."

The protagonist in this book was an artificial intelligence robot called Abbie. She is uploaded with original Abbie’s memories, and she feels like a human. And that is where it doesn’t make sense to me. Sometimes Abbie is very human-like, the way she thinks and the way she behaves, and sometimes she is a simple machine, my brain admired and despised her at the same time.

After hearing such mixed reviews, I went in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. I thought this reboot really did the original justice, bringing a self-awareness to the conceit that the franchise has always had.
Mark Hamill was great, Aubrey Plaza makes a pretty convincing mom, and Chucky's got jokes. What more did you really want?
