I can honestly say that I did not enjoy this book. For me, Charles Dickens' works are all very repetitive. There's an orphan who continuously falls onto bad times, then suddenly figures things out and gets his life turned around. Everything happened too slowly and was way too drawn for me or it was important information told in passing. The chapters jump around a lot so it can get confusing temporally. There are too many characters with similar names to keep track of. Overall, I didn't enjoy this novel.

Book one of the Riftwar Saga is a definite must read. I've seen Raymond Feist's books on the shelf for years and only now decided to read one. This and the second, Magician Master ,were originally written as one book. It tells the story of Pug, who rises from an orphan to become one of the most powerful magicians in any kingdom. Feist writes beautifully , making the reader forget the real world and become fully immersed in theirs. Definite addition to anyone's list that appreciates an epic fantasy story.

Finally watched last night a month after I watched orphan first kill on paramount plus in the US Finally got to watch it on blu ray but I had get as double disc with the prequel which I didn't mind anyway the film its as just as good as imagined excellent performance from both vera and isabelle who knew someone as young as she was at the time of filming could pull such a character but she does. Now I've seen both films this would be my favourite of the two

This was a series that was a spin off of vampire diaries but I feel was so much better. I love the way it ended but not that it ended. This follows the story of the original vampire family and how they became so cruel, also how in a way how they became good again. Thought a little mirical baby names hope, and how in the end why she became an orphan. If you love a good witch, vampire, werewolf fued this is just a must see.

It’s Hard to Imagine a More Romantic Story
Orphan Anne Shirley is thrilled when she is sent to live with the Cuthbert siblings, Matthew and Marilla. The problem is, they were looking for an orphan boy, someone who could help Matthew around the farm. Still, they begin to fall for Anne and agree to let her stay. This book follows her adventures of the next five years as she grows to become a sixteen-year-old. What will happen over that time?

I’ve never read this well-loved classic, and I decided it was time to fix that. It came out in 1908, so some of the language is dated, although there is nothing offensive here. I think I needed to be a pre-teen girl to fully enjoy this book. There were certainly parts I did enjoy, but overall, I found the book more episodic than a real novel. That tends to happen to me when a novel covers such a span of time. Also, the events in the second half of the book got to be too much for me. Having said that, I can see the appeal. The characters definitely grew on me, and I laughed at various events along the way. I’m curious enough about what happens next that I might go on with the series.

The first Orphan is great for many reasons, chief amongst them being the truly infamous and batshit plot twist. Orphan: First Kill then, has some big footsteps to follow, or precede I guess. This prequel is a little worrisome at first. Although it's great to have Esther back on our screens, the first third of First Kill treads some extremely territory. It's entertaining for sure, and the violence may be a bit more savage, but the narrative threatens to be a little rinse-and-repeat. However, I found myself with egg on my face whilst thinking this, when a new, and arguably more batshit plot twist hits in the mid section, and suddenly First Kill commands more respect.
This sharp turn in proceedings ensures that we're being shown something new, an aspect that so many horror sequels seem to glaze over.
Isabelle Fuhrman returns as Esther, and honestly, she is noticeably older even though this is a prequel. However, I can't help but admire the decision to go down this route instead of using CGI. The use of make up and camera tricks do a good job of least ensuring that it doesn't look fake.

Although it doesn't quite hit the heights of the first film, First Kill is still a good time, with one of the most underrated villains of horror, and I for one want more dammit.

I remember when this movie came out on one as part of the wonderworks collection of movies. Megan follows is perfect as Anne Shirley an orphan with a great imagination and a fiery temper and spirit. She is sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and marilla Cuthbert played by colleen dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth they are also perfectly cast. Anne meets friends and foes and has scraps and trials and tribulations. Some involving her bosom friend Diana berry and school rival Gilbert blythe! Perfect for the whole family

The great thing about reading the fifth novel in this thrilling series is that you know what to expect and Gregg Hurwitz does not disappoint! While this novel had a few wonderful debuts (Dog the Rhodesian Ridgeback) the best “new” element was seeing Orphan X vulnerable and human. Although it has been said and implied throughout the previous books that he can/does get hurt, his exceptional training and amazing (reflexes? talent?) proficiency make it highly unlikely. To see him struggle with physical challenges as well as his spiritual and emotional ones continues to round out this character we have come to know (somewhat) and love (unequivocally)!

Lyra is a orphan growing up with a group of boring scholars. She has an incredible imagination and would drop anything to do in an adventure with her best pal Roger.

However Roger is kidnapped and taken north by the gobblers. Lyra, being the strong independent young woman she is, is determined to get him back.

This classic story has everything to get your imagination going. There are kidnappings, witches, daemons, armoured bears, hot air balloon trips and a machine that can tell the truth.

Totally worth a read
