This novel allows Fitzgerald's lavish, lyrical writing style to shine. The characters are engaging and there's a hint of mystery about it all that is incredibly alluring. (0 more)
In my personal opinion, this novel is not Fitgerald's best. "Tender is the Night" or "The Beatiful and the Damned" or even his first "This Side of Paradise" were more complex and emotionally charged. Luckily for him, "not his best" is still a smash. (0 more)

Death in Paradise (Henrie O, #4)

Book Rating
Henrie O. gets a package that insinuates that her husband's death wasn't an accident but murder. Not able to let that go, she travels to Hawaii to find out what happens. The plot moved too slowly for my tastes and I had a hard time keeping the characters straight for the first half of the book.

Book Favorite

"One of my favorite books, which I read when I was about twelve or fourteen, was Alfred Russel Wallace’s travels in the Far East in search of the birds of paradise. I thought he was a marvelous man and full of insight and compassion for the people he met. He was entirely by himself, getting on for eight years wandering around the islands of East Melanesia, western New Guinea and Borneo. He writes brilliantly and says marvelous things."

The claustrophobic feel (2 more)
The CGI of the female robot
Mixing technology with a back drop of utter paradise
Better cast and screen writing required (4 more)
Quicker pace required
Feels a little cheap in places
Female characters were there to aid the male
A bit trashy
Seen it all before, or since
It didn't have me flying by the seat of my pants. There were some moments of anxiety felt for the main protagonist but nothing really memorable. It was neither here nor there.
