Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated The Ghost and the Graveyard (Knight Games, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
I saw the cover a while ago on Amazon and because I like a good cover thought "I want to read that." I didn't even read the synopsis, just downloaded it free.
So when I started this I had very little idea of what it was about. I can say I wasn't disappointed.
The story was fairly easy to get into and I was intrigued by the sexy Rick and the affects he had on Grateful as well as how he managed to do half of what he did (don't want to spoil it by giving the details away!).
Then comes Logan. I couldn't quite decided if I liked him or not. He came across as being very helpful but there was also a bit of jealousy going on too.
I feel like I can't give much away without spoiling it but it's quite a fun read filled with paranormal elements and romance that will leave you questioning for the first half and "oohing" over the second.
You should give this a try!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy #1) in Books
Jan 8, 2021
It started off quite good, we were thrown straight into the action and I was excited to see where it would all lead.
Evie was kinda fun, she was rather innocent though having lived in the agency building since she was eight and in a way it fun seeing her in a school setting though her fashion sense and love of pink was a bit OTT.
I love Lend--dodgy name but I totally get it. He had my attention from early on and I loved reading the slow progression of his relationship with Evie.
Reth, I'm not too sure about; sometimes he seemed alright and others I wanted to punch him in the face.
I'm not normally a fan of books involving the fae but I liked this. It was different since it involved all different types of paranormal creature/being and wasn't too engrossed in the courts and the ways of the fae.
I am definitely intrigued as to what else will happen in this series and will be continuing it at some point in the near future.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Kade's Dark Embrace (Immortals of New Orleans, #1) in Books
Jan 8, 2021
Admittedly, I'm in a bit of a slump where paranormal books are concerned and I'm struggling to get into favourite series' such as Black Dagger Brotherhood Book 12! It's almost blasphemy to myself.
That being said the plot sounded right up my street for this. I think it was just the way it was written that made me give it up. I like my characters to be monogamous--if that's the right term. I'm guessing something's going to happen with Kade so why do I have to read about her having sex with her "loupe"? I'm not a fan of that. And then as I mentioned above the style didn't sit right with me, it wasn't gripping me and pulling me into the story. I found it awkward and considering it isn't the longest book, to see that I was only a quarter way in after three full days when, if it had grabbed my attention, I'd have finished it by now.
Not really my sort of thing.<br/>

Merissa (12684 KP) rated Race the Darkness (Fatal Dreams #1) in Books
May 4, 2021
This story is gripping from the very beginning, and it is hard to believe that this is Abbie Roads' debut novel! Exceedingly well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. Race the Darkness flows so well, building up at certain points, before coming gently down, and then building up again.
I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who wants a slightly darker read, with plenty of 'character'. Absolutely wonderful.
* I received this book from The Book Garden / NetGalley in return for a fair and honest review. *
