Merissa (12066 KP) rated Reborn (The Awakening Series #1) in Books
Apr 11, 2023
These characters are all multi-dimensional with very real fears, laughs and loves. There is no insta-love in this story (thank goodness) although there is a reconnection that is made. The back story is given to you in a drip-feed fashion so that it doesn't overpower the current story but you are still getting the information needed for a deep understanding of what is happening.
This is a gripping story that will draw you in but one warning, it does come with a cliffhanger ending that will sucker-punch you and leave you gasping. If you like paranormal romance that comes complete with intense emotion then I can highly recommend this one. Another fantastic series by Dean Murray starts with a bang!

Merissa (12066 KP) rated Trancing the Tiger (Chinese Zodiac Romance, #1) in Books
Apr 11, 2023
All of the characters are interesting and amazing in their own right. For me personally, I was interested whenever Fang made an appearance (he's a rat) because that's what I am. The whole aspect of the Chinese Zodiac is one that I haven't seen before in Fantasy or Paranormal books and I am thrilled that Rachael Slate has made her stand in this way. It works, it really does.
The pace is steady throughout and very well written. The plot has depth and drama and will definitely leave you wanting more. I can't wait for By The Horns, which is book 2 in this series and is due out sometime this year. Definitely, absolutely recommended.

Merissa (12066 KP) rated Scrape (Reveler #8) in Books
May 8, 2021 (Updated Apr 16, 2023)
Scrape packs in so many emotions, I think I went through all of them whilst reading this story. The one that comes across loudest for me though, was family. All of the characters now think of themselves as one family, and that only makes them stronger when adversity is facing them.
I am going to miss this series and the world of darksight, reves, and Chimera. I think Erin Kellison has done an amazing job and now I will have the pleasure of reading them all again. If you like a paranormal world that is a little bit different from vampires and shifters, then I can highly recommend the Reveler Series. Start at book one and lose yourself in the dream.

Ferns Flight ( Sisters of Hex: Fern book 3)
By Bea Paige
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶
With her Angels of Death by her side, Fern must lead Clan Vitae to war. But can she become the leader they need, when there's so much at stake?
Fern must lead her clan to war, but it would appear the evil Queen Adrielle has other ideas. Can she save her clan from the Queen's wrath or will she have nothing more than a little hope to fight the darkness? Read the thrilling conclusion to Fern's trilogy to find out!
Fern's Flight is the final book of Fern's trilogy and continues the Sisters of Hex story. To get a full picture of the overarching storyline you might wish to read Accacia's trilogy first.
The Sisters of Hex series - five sisters, five clans, one curse and a whole host of paranormal creatures.
Holy crap it all happens In This book!! It ran packed with drama, action and a little bit of spice! This has to be hands down my favourite one in the series. I know it’s a good book when towards the end you get that itchy feeling yes I’m very strange lol. Fern and her men really picked up in this book as well as the familiar faces from the first trilogy with Accacia and her vamps. Bea Paige has this way of drawing you in! Definitely recommend both this series and author although I can’t see anything for the next set of books.

Rise to Me ( Psychic surveys book 2)
By Shani Struthers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"This isn't a ghost we're dealing with. If only it were that simple..."
Eighteen years ago, when psychic Ruby Davis was a child, her mother - also a psychic - suffered a nervous breakdown. Ruby was never told why. "It won't help you to know," the only answer ever given. Fast forward to the present and Ruby is earning a living from her gift, running a high street consultancy - Psychic Surveys - specialising in domestic spiritual clearance.
Boasting a strong track record, business is booming. Dealing with spirits has become routine but there is more to the paranormal than even Ruby can imagine. Someone - something - stalks her, terrifying but also strangely familiar. Hiding in the shadows, it is fast becoming bolder and the only way to fight it is for the past to be revealed - no matter what the danger.
When you can see the light, you can see the darkness too.
And sometimes the darkness stares straight back at you.
This was better than the 1st book and much creepier especially read in the dark. For someone who has mental health issues the creepy dark figures of the mind were just skin crawling. There were some cringe bits but still I really enjoyed it! The whole love beats all was a bit of a small cringe but other than that it was a much creepier book. I always didn’t mind the whole family drama it added a base to the story.
