I think that’s what this book grasped so well - the sheer overwhelm of new parenting. It is like sleep-deprived drowning. I was very lucky to have an extremely useful/ thoughtful co-parent, unlike Soldier, who was left largely on her own to negotiate parenting a baby and later, a toddler. And I have very low housework expectations (still. Should I admit that?!).
The last 40 or so pages contains some of the best writing I’ve read in a while. I had to shut myself away to read it, while I sobbed and tried to carry on reading through my tears.
Utterly beautiful, and I urge you to read it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is the week before Christmas and the cathedral city of St Albans is blanketed by snow. But beneath the festive lights, darkness is stirring. The frozen body of a young girl is discovered by the ice-covered lake.
The police scramble for clues. A local woman, Jenny, has had visions of what happened the night of the murder. But Jenny is an exhausted new mother, whose midnight wanderings pull her ever closer to the lake. Can Jenny be trusted? What does she really know?
Then another girl goes missing, and the community unravels. Neighbour turns against neighbour, and Jenny has no idea who to believe. As Christmas Eve approaches, Jenny discovers a secret about her past – and why she could be key to everything...
This was pretty good I didn’t see that killer coming at all! It’s heartbreaking as a parent I couldn’t imagine going through this. Well written the characters are relatable the only one I had issues with was Will he was good at gaslighting his wife.
Really decent read.

It's a really well told, gritty police procedural, heavy on the character building. In fact I became very attached to these characters: the struggling single parent WPC; the teenaged boys who had become involved in drug dealing; the officer involved with a big operation; the DC investigating a murder. I didn't like the big drug dealer though (which I think was the whole point. He was a man devoid of conscience).
The mothers in this really resonated with me: women trying to do their best , one working long hours and sacrificing time with her baby to be able to provide for him in a job she loves; the other, a woman who risks losing her son to drug dealing and violence. Both women backed into impossible-to-get-out-of corners.
I really, really enjoyed this book, and I'll be buying the first two in the series to read and catch up!!
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and to the author, Kate London, for reading along with us!

Aug 30, 2018 (Updated Apr 9, 2019)
You will lean some words in French like the days of week and Colors. It more of story with a learning guide to learn some words in French. You will learn “My Name is” in friend. You can act out skit in French with a friend or friends. You will also learn some words that goes along with beach and learning a boy and girl in French.
Think is really good to have on your child bookshelves or even in your child school so that they can learn new words and a new languages. It good for though that are going on trip and to have for your child or children learning the words while on a plane or in the car. Maybe your parent that want all kinds of educational books for your child or children. This book is good for that as well.
