Honestlys not sure how I feel about this one. There were glaring elements I hated (the narrating attitude about women and race especially), but things that I think are worth looking at like child “marriage” in the US and calling a girl who’d been raped repeatedly as a pre teen a “whore.” It’s a solid and deserved slap in the face for anyone inclined to idealize the period.

Oh sweet sweet rose and humble handsome Cameron. As usual i fell in love with the characters. As you read you see their personalities develop and enjoy their little quirks. There were a few confusing parts where it jumped from one feeling to another but other than that and the language not quite fitting the time period at moment,as with lilys story i enjoyed it immensely!Cant wait to read book 3.

I read this on my Kindle, having recently been republished. Not quite sure why it was part of a trilogy marketed as Regency Royal as only the first book was set in the Georgian period - this was much later (early 20th century) and none of the books were related to each other at all. Heroine in this one a bit silly, but still, MC Beaton always gives you a good read.

"Sorry, but Torah really is all that. I think it has less to do with being written by God than the fact that the stories were developed over such a long period by so many people that the narratives take on the quality of rock cut by water over millennia. The thing about Torah is that the text can be analyzed from almost any vantage point and still yield massive fruit."
