Wow looking so outdated now, and Virtual reality is barely used these days. Didn't take off like it was predicted. This is based on a short story by Stephen King, surprised to see a young Pierce Brosnan in this. The graphics for the virtual reality scenes look like an arcade game from the era. It's not very original, yet some how got a sequel a few years later. For a good film about Virtual reality check out the much better eXistenZ!

Dante's Peak (1997)
Dante's Peak (1997)
1997 | Action
There was a period during the mid to late 1990s where disaster movies seemed to come in pairs.

In reverse release date order: Armageddon and Deep Impact. Or Volcano and Dante's Peak (this one), aka the one in which James Bond helps the future mother of the saviour of mankind (sorry, sorry: Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton) rescue her kids from an exploding volcano after they go up said mountain for plot reasons.

A pretty standard by-the-numbers disaster movie, then, with the expected pyrotechnics, clunky dialogue and, yep, even the town meeting where the inhabitants refuse to listen..

Cheesy to the very end but immensely successful and spawning a sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again this very summer. 2008’s Mamma Mia was one of the most profitable musicals of all time with an all-star cast including Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. With the entire wedding-themed movie set on an idyllic Greek island, it was inevitable that the ceremony itself would be absolutely stunning. It was, with a church perched high on a hill and a lovely reception in which Amanda Seyfriend’s Sophie could relish in the love of her friends, mum and (spoiler alert), her three dads.
