Great prequel to Silence of the Lambs
This star-studded film is a brilliant sequel / prequel to Silence of the Lambs, unlike the other films in the franchise. It's not overly gory and it focuses on character development. The plot is well-done and the acting is superb. Of course Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson and Edward Norton get a special mention. It's a dark tale about a forensic detective attempting to trace a serial killer who has a penchant for murdering whole families all the while 'transforming' into the Red Dragon.

This feels like a prequel to a series instead of the first in the series. The lead up to the climax is slow and then rushed. While I enjoyed the premise and the idea was a great one it just didn't feel complete to me.

Hmm so going to mention The Thing, I was pleasantly surprised with the Prequel. Watching the DVD with the making of they stayed truthful to how the base appears in the first film... Including how that axe got in the door. Anyone else like it?

True I don't often have high hopes for prequels, so think it faired better than most.

I haven’t seen the prequel since it came out at the cinema. It has very big shoes to fill though, the original is a classic! Might have to give it another watch

This book wasn't as good as the other 2 prequel novels in this series. It was short, but still took me awhile to get in to. I, hoping the second "real" book in the series is better. If not, I just might be done reading them.

A turn in the right direction
So much better than the awful 3rd film. This gets the franchise back on track. More of a prequel to the original film, set at a remote abandoned sanatarium. Back to very gory and inventive kills and decent practical effects.
