Historical context is fascinating but explanations fall short
I had a few issues with this book. No doubt the history of the various religions was absolutely fascinating, exploring polytheistic belief systems to its evolution into monotheism. However, the connections suggested between how God is seen to be humanized is not very clear, rather it seems to be a throwaway remark about two psychological concepts that force human beings to look at everything with human eyes. It is also not very clear in terms of its explanation on why God must be one and not many.

As an atheist/ agnostic reading this, the historical elements were more of interest as the philosophical aspect seems to fall short due to the lack of exploration on why God even became a concept.

Wasn't sure what I was expecting from this one but got more than I thought. At first glance I thought it was going to be more of a "psychological' horror flick. Turned out to be more of a "creature feature". There was some killing in it, but nothing too gory. Things literally got hairy in this movie. The actors all did a decent job and the cinematography was good. I'd have liked more of a "back story" on the main character but they filled in some of the gaps about her. Overall this was an entertaining movie. Not really scary at all, but held the interest well enough to watch it all the way through. Interesting take on the werewolf genra. Worth a watch if you're bored some night.

A twist on the popular domestic noir novels that have dominated the bestseller list. This psychological thriller revolves around Jane, recovering after a traumatic loss, she moves into an architectural showhome, an austere house with strict rules. One Folgate Street is a formidable fortress of technology that promotes, sleek, sterile, minimalist living but it hides a murky past. Jane is not the first resident to enjoy the stark lifestyle and her interest is piqued when a stranger leaves flowers at the door. Who was the girl before and will the same fate befall Jane?
This narrative uses the two women’s perspectives to draw you into the plot. The film is being directed by Ron Howard so there’s time to read the book before you see the movie. One for your travels.

One of those movies which has clearly been influential but remains relatively little-seen, certainly in the original version. XB-1 and its crew (mostly good-looking young people, a few rugged old character actors, and a fairly dreadful robot prop) blast off for Alpha Centauri but must come to terms with the strains of long-haul spaceflight and various dangers (radiation, dangerous derelicts, and so on).

Arguably the missing link between Forbidden Planet and 2001: A Space Odyssey (yes, that's a bold claim), with a strange mixture of pulp SF tropes but also downbeat psychological realism. Notably good and interesting sets, photography, and a memorable avant-garde musical score too. The story is a bit episodic and not exactly pacey, but the rest of the film makes up for this.

A Creepy Psychological Film
I am truly becoming a fan of this director's work. This film although labeled as horror does not rely on the typical jump scares and gimmicks of many modern day horror films. Rather he thinks out of the box, creating a whole new kind of horror that focuses on the mind, the psychology of the human person.
This film takes a look at not only the dark psychology of the human mind but the dark workings of society. I wont spoil anything for those yet to watch it but this film will leave you unnerved in a new light, making you think a little bit deeper but only if you really want to. Either way you have a truly enjoyable twisted film.
