So Insane and Crazy That I Had No Idea What Was Going on. (0 more)
Inside Your Head
Virtuosity- is a intresting sci-fi action thriller. Where Russell Crowe was the villian. He was so insane and crazy in this movie, i loved it. The only downfall was towards during the 3rd/the final act, it got so insane and crazy that I had no idea what was going on and i would have to watch it again. So if your going to watch this movie, be warned you have to do a second viewing cause of how insane and crazy it gets.

The plot: A former cop who has been imprisoned for murdering the psychopath who killed his family, Parker Barnes (Denzel Washington) is recruited to test out a new virtual-reality program where the goal is to apprehend a computer-generated being called SID 6.7 (Russell Crowe), who has been modeled on hundreds of deranged criminals. When SID manages to escape into the real world, Barnes must capture or destroy him before the soulless entity can go on a killing spree.

It mixes sci-fi, action, suspense and crazyness into one movie. A must watch if you haven't heard or seen it.

Two days to save her . . .

For over five years, the Four Monkey Killer has terrorized the residents of Chicago. When his body is found, the police quickly realize he was on his way to deliver one final message, one which proves he has taken another victim who may still be alive.

One day . . .

As the lead investigator on the 4MK task force, Detective Sam Porter knows that even in death, the killer is far from finished. When he discovers a personal diary in the jacket pocket of the body, Porter finds himself caught up in the mind of a psychopath, unraveling a twisted history in hopes of finding one last girl, all while struggling with personal demons of his own.

Zero.

With only a handful of clues, the elusive killer’s identity remains a mystery. Time is running out as the Four Monkey Killer taunts from beyond the grave in this masterfully written fast-paced thriller.

I actually found this quite chilling! It was very well written especially the diary chapters! I honestly didn’t see that twist coming! I kept swapping my rating from a 4 to a 3 and vide versa as I’m not sure where I wanted it to go! I really enjoy J D Barker and look forward to the next book!

Imagine the injustice of being sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder you didn’t commit. Not that Grace Bernard is actually innocent. I mean, she HAS murdered six (or is it five? I lose count) members of her own estranged family. Not that they didn’t deserve it.

This was a dark, funny book, and I found myself laughing at the most inappropriate moments. Grace plans her murders meticulously: she finds out what each family member likes to do, where they live and who their contacts are. She’s calm, collected and seriously scary. Grace is a prime example of a psychopath. She has no real attachments, she’s calm and collected during her murders, and her life otherwise appears to be normal.

But if anyone had found the memoir she starts to write whilst jailed for the murder she didn’t commit, she would have had a much longer sentence.

As you probably know by now, I always seem to end up with a soft spot for the more unpleasant, dare I say, naughty, characters. If you count six murders as a bit naughty, then yes, Grace has been added to my list of favourite characters. She really is something special!

Thanks to The Borough Press for my copy of this book to read through NetGalley.

This was such an interesting glimpse into the minds and motivations of psychopaths, and also made me realise that there is most certainly no such thing as ‘one size fits all’. I also learnt that we bandy this word ‘psychopath’ around and we don’t always use it correctly. Generally speaking, psychopaths are people who have no remorse or worries about using and abusing people. They have no feelings of guilt over their actions.

This was a fascinating look at seven very different people (six men and one woman), and looked at how they used different kinds of violence and manipulation to get what they wanted.

This also looks at rehabilitation and whether it’s actually possible - which surprised me. I had thought that there was no chance of that at all. I shouldn’t have judged though, because all people are different, and that applies to those diagnosed with psychopathy as well. Some will never be able to rehabilitate, but there are those who want to be able to live their lives out of an institution.

I’ve said this a lot, but this really WAS interesting, insightful and informative, and I very much enjoyed it.
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and the author, Mark Freestone, for reading along and adding clarifications to us readers, as well as answering our questions!

A serial killer stalks the streets of Savannah...

Homicide detective Elise Sandburg and her partner, profiler David Gould, are all too familiar with the terrible costs of chasing evil. Despite their wounded psyches, the detectives delve into the deranged killer’s twisted mind, determined to unravel the clues in the taunts he leaves behind.

A city gripped by fear...

When his daughter becomes the killer’s next victim, a grief-stricken mayor comes down hard on the police, demanding that they catch the psychopath—now. Feeling the pressure, department officials enlist the aid of both Elise’s estranged father and an FBI profiler who has unresolved business with David.

A cunning and elusive madman...

In a heart-pounding race to stop the next homicide, the detectives uncover their own role in the madman’s deadly game. Will they outsmart the killer before another horrific murder takes place in their beautiful city? Or have Elise and David finally met their match?

I thought it was fab! I love this duo and Anne’s writing style. I did have the murderer pegged from the beginning but even so it was such an entertaining read. Can’t believe there are only 4 books in this series so only 1 more to go.
