For my all time favorite silver screen movie, Harvey is a mix of beautiful comedy mixed with a good helping of heart. The story follows the lovable Elwood P. Dowd and his best friend, Harvey who never makes a physical appearance on screen but is never-the-less always felt. Stewart puts forth a beautiful and lighthearted (but somehow still touching) performance, the the surrounding cast never disappoints as they move through the film adaptation of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

"How can you not love the old fisherman, Santiago, and this great sea story by ol’ man Hemingway. Ernest won the Pulitzer and Nobel prizes for his efforts with this book. In many ways, the story echoes Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. But Hemingway takes the reader much deeper into the personal journey of man vs. nature. Through Santiago we are reminded of humility and the fragility of life. So vulnerable we are in our little boats floating in a universe unimaginably large and benign to the desires or passions of human ambitions."

Grim, detailed outlook on the American poor
Absolute kudos to Matthew Desmond for his detailed look into the heart of America's troubled capitalist system. His research and first-hand accounts of people living in poverty in Milwaukee is desperate, heartbreaking and dire, at the same time he offers an alternative to attempt to remedy an age old discriminatory system.

Eight individuals and families in this book represent an ongoing endemic situation that has perpetuated over the last century. Desmond explains circumstances that many i.e. institutions are familiar with but choose to not deal with. Definitely deserved of the Pulitzer Prize.
