Coming to America (1988)
Coming to America (1988)
1988 | Comedy, Romance

"Coming to America. It kind of gave me the same feeling of pride and just feeling good about myself that Black Panther did, seeing this sort of regal, black royalty, excellence. Now, they had to hide it and disguise that in comedy which is so often in our culture and in the movie business for a long time. But there were so many lines that you can just quote and appearances from actors you didn’t even realize that were in it, like Cuba Gooding, Jr. to Jake Steinfeld. “The Queen to Be,” you know, there are so many lines. And the characters that Eddie Murphy played… They were caricatures, I guess, but it seemed like the performances were layered, actually. It was very much a comedy, but it wasn’t over the top. If they ever remade it, I would be opposed to it. That’s one of those movies that you have to leave alone."

Leprechaun 3 (1995)
Leprechaun 3 (1995)
1995 | Horror
The third entry into the Leprechaun series is more of the same. Silly nonsense with questionable performances, bad jokes, and a plot that disregards anything that happened in previous films, and as per usual, it's still kind of enjoyable. At least there's some consistency!

Warwick Davies has just about perfected his little shit of a villain at this point, and I actually think he's a bit funnier this time around. The rest of the cast is what you would usually expect from a Leprechaun film, but it's always a treat to see scream queen Caroline Williams, and she's a welcome presence throughout this movie.

There's some decent effects work on display, some suitably gory and unique kills, and the Las Vegas setting is as fitting as it is inevitable for this franchise.
I would say that Leprechaun 3 is probably my favourite entry so far. Still trashy as fuck though, but to it's credit, it's fun and doesn't get boring.

"What can I say about Julianne Moore other than that she is a queen and a goddess and I love her. This film is so unsettling, and I find it hard to describe because the monsters and enemies are invisible. What is leading this woman who is technically fine, technically well-off, technically clean, and technically shouldn’t have anything to worry about down this spiral of sickness and paranoia? I often feel that way about myself when I’m dealing with existential crises of my own. I count my blessings, but I can’t get away from, at certain points, this feeling that something is wrong, and this film hit me right there. Haynes was ahead of his time in creating that sort of ominous, intrusive, odious ambiance without beating you over the head with outright horror or contagion, or all of the easy ways to get you to feel scared. It’s all that isn’t being seen in the film that is scariest."

Fantastic
An absolutly gripping story from start to finish!

Jinji the wunderlust has been wondering from place to place telling tales of lost prince's and fae. This is until he is arrested by a solider called Yeston and taken to Queen Bareene of Amantier who plans to make these fairy tales stop, however nothing goes to her plan!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story I was gripped from when I first started, the description of jinji to start with is peculiar but as the story goes on you find yourself warming to him more and more as well as some of the other charecters. This friendships that grow the fellowships that form the hardships that have been faced have had me awestruck I have loved it from the first page to the last. Perhaps M.H. Woodscourt is a storyweaver themselves

I will deffinatly recommend this book to be read. An epic fantasy adventure

Freddie appears unlikeable (0 more)
I'm too young to have ever seen what the real freddie mercury was like other than hearing queens songs, so this is based purely on the movie.
The movie starts off slow but soon picks up after freddie joins the other members of queen, i quickly noticed how arrogant freddie is in the start of the movie. It's like he took over a band that wasn't his to begin with, he did get the band famous but he didn't seem very likeable. The whole movie was up and down with emotion, i wasn't sure how to feel. One moment I'd be feeling sorry for him and the next calling him names for his attitude towards people. The final few minutes was probably the best part of the movie, strangely emotional though. I do feel we need a sequel though as i felt the movie was incomplete and would be interesting to see the lead up to his death.
