ummmmm WHAT?
Ok so I watched this a few days after rewatching Interview with a Vampire. I had seen it before, but remembered very little.
This movie was a hack job and sought to combine the Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into a movie under 2 hours. It's a poor adaption, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
Stuart Townsend wasn't a bad Lestat overall. Of course, he didn't look like him at all, and his backstory was... again, this was a hack-job. There were numerous plot holes and it just ends... It's strange.
Aaliyah was alright, and I think it suffered because she passed just after principle photography. I'm sure with re-shoots, this film may have been better. RIP Aaliyah.
The best part of this entire film was the soundtrack, written by some dudes from KORN. It was sufficiently moody, and honestly, I wouldn't mind if they scores/wrote the music for the new series. The music is the only reason I rated this as high as I did.

Very slow
Finally got the chance to see this after missing it at the cinema and to be honest I’m kind of glad I didn’t get a chance to see it on the big screen, as I probably would’ve gotten rather bored.

The story behind this about racial injustice and the issues that are being faced in real life, especially in America, is important and I’d never deny that. I think the problem with this film is that it’s very slow. It starts off well and fairly fast paced, but within the first hour it starts to drag, lose it’s momentum and point, and could easily have had a lot of the filler cut out without detriment to the story. I’m also not entirely sure the two main characters are particularly likeable, especially Queen, and their actions and choices are often rather bizarre and don’t make sense. It’s a shame, because this film is actually well made with a great soundtrack and feel. I just wish they’d cut it down to make a much more fast paced story.

Here we go again. Lumbering action-fantasy stomper based - I kid you not - on one of Vin Diesel's Dungeons & Dragons games. Mediaeval warrior Kaulder (spelt with a K presumably because it's kooler, a principle I will be observing karefully in this review) battles the Evil Witch Queen and is kursed with immortality. What ensues is basically Highlander meets Hellboy meets Harry Potter meets Blade meets Men in Black: mysteriously, this film attempts to pinch the best bits of all those films and ends up seeming worse than any of them.

Plodding script is largely to blame, also the fact that Vin basically just does his routine smirking-swaggering-smug performance for most of the film. Usual excess of CGI doesn't help the situation much either. Michael Kaine (look how kool I've made him seem) somehow manages to emerge with dignity, but he's about the only one. Lazy film-making in virtually every way that matters (although it scrapes another point for the moment when Vin Diesel dolphins a giant wooden insect). Are they really still planning a sequel? Kount me out.

Your use of ‘K’ rather than ‘C’ really made me laugh!
