Lacuna is a standalone fantasy but I really, REALLY, hope to return to this world. I need more of Crow and Tancho, it's as simple as that!

Their world is split into four, with one ruler for each quarter. To ensure no fighting, there is a central command (if you like) but obviously, not everything can be good in paradise. I loved how each quarter was so different and how the people embodied their element. Crow and Tancho, without doubt, are my favourites and that is completely as it should be.

When they find out what their birthmark bond is actually about, I thought it fantastic. They wanted to kill each other most of the time and their verbal battles, childishness and general poutiness were spot on. After all, how would you feel being tied to someone you didn't know, even if you did find them attractive?

The world-building is perfect and the pacing is second-to-none. There is plenty of action going on in Crow and Tancho's world and therefore, it makes sense, that they would have no time to explore their growing bond. When they do, however, they make up for lost time. 😉 There is also a brilliant cast of supporting characters, from best friends to the other king and queen. They all have their own foibles and interests but pull together perfectly.

I adore MM and Fantasy so, for me, this was the perfect blend of both. An amazing story set in a fantastic world with an outstanding storyline and wonderful characters. What more could you ask for? Absolutely recommended by me.

I don't usually like period dramas or anything historical. But this, is art. The fashion is gorgeous, enough to make me buy a corset and several dresses in the style. And its quite funny for something set so long ago.

Daphne is the beautiful oldest daughter of the Bridgerton house, one of Londons richest. She is one of the debutantes set for marriage along with many other eligible bacholerettes and is highly sought after the Queen dubs her a Diamond. But since their father is gone, her oldest brother Antony is responsible for scaring off matches, and that he does. Leaving her with no choice but some hideous man who I can't even remember the name of.

Simon is the Duke of Hastings, taking over his fathers work after his death. He is very handsome and very rich. All the ladies want him and all the mothers want him for their daughter's. He happens to be Antonys best friend from their boarding school times and after meeting Daphne, they decide to fake a courtship so she can seem desirable again and he will be left alone. But without even realising, they start to fall in love.
After the Queens handsome nephew starts to fall for Daphne, and their plan seems to be working, he realises he wants her and 'defiles' her honour at a party. After a failed duel on her brothers part, they are to be married despite his refusal and his insistence that he can't have children or give her the big family she dreams of.

This book 3 on a trilogy.

This series was recommended to me by a friend as im doing an A to Z book challenge this year. The first book is called Z.

Quick run through.....

Z and her adoptive brother are on the run from the police wanted for murder, they are forced into the streets after their adoptive parents tragically die in a cat accident.

When cornered in a dark alley her brother is killed and she saved my a mysterious stranger claiming to be her real brother from another dimension. Oh and she's some long lost princess.

Over time she regains her memory and her family, all except dear old dad who happens to be called the dark king. While trying to find a rare ingredient for s potion to save her mother z or rather Nadya gets taken by her dad.

We pick up in book 3! Nadya had her memories manipulated by the general Allen who she thought was dead. When her friends come to save her she has different memories of them and tortures Her best friend for potion ingredients them send them all through a portal to earth. They find there way back in time to save her but lose a lot in the process!

I can honestly say I'm sad to see this end! I have enjoyed reading it and following Nadya and her friends. Victorias was so sad after all the plans she had made.

Loved seeing Nadya become the queen she was meant to be. I love Lizzy's contrast between our earth and theirs bringing some of a fairytale world into ours.

I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next!

Girls Trip (2017)
Girls Trip (2017)
2017 | Comedy, Drama
The previews for “Girls Trip” are a bit deceiving. Like many comedies, the trailer only shows half jokes and makes the film look like it leans toward the slap stick side of comedy rather one filled with clever humor. The first few minutes feel a little forced in their attempt to make people laugh. But rather quickly that impression fades.

The audience rolled with laughter at the screening for “Girls Trip” for pretty much the entire length of the film. Perhaps the funniest comedy about a squad of misbehaving women since “Bridesmaid;” each moment comes at you fast and is funnier than the last.

Highschool friends Ryan (Regina Hall), Sasha (Queen Latifa), Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Dina (Tiffany Haddish) travel to New Orleans for a girls trip to reconnect and cut loose after years apart. Hot guys, loud music, and adults-only jokes, their trip is filled with mishaps. The comedic style is a little chaotic, but its so much fun to watch.

Also really enjoyable are the musical appearances by Ne-Yo, Mariah Carey, and Diddy. The plot is largely about the entertainment industry and its more human side.

“Girls Trip” also has a surprising amount of depth running through its storyline. The four ladies had grown apart and had their issues with each other here and there after high school. On the trip, years of misunderstandings surface to get hashed out. Strong themes of friendship, inner strength and honesty with oneself are a core part of the film.

Ryan herself has become a celebrity over the years alongside her famous football player husband, and Sasha has developed a tabloid website. The two women are diametrically opposed to each other at points. Their struggle for understanding gives viewers a glimpse of the effect the scorning public eye has on celebrities and their personal lives.

Thoughts on Queen & Country

Characters – Bill lives on an island in the middle of the Thames, he is drafted the army which gets him to see more of the world, meet a mysterious woman and learn to stand up for himself. Percy is the loud best friend of Bill, who has done everything, he is the one that wants to get ahead of Bradley. Ophelia is the mysterious woman that comes into Bill’s life, she draws him but is keeping her secrets safe.

Performances – Callum Turner is fine in this leading role but just doesn’t capture the levels to make us want to see his character too often. Caleb Landry Jones is the one we want to see the most, he is fun to watch but not the most interesting. The cast are fine but they just come off like posh Brits in roles.

Story – The story is a sequel to a movie, I have never heard off, which is guess doesn’t help too much. We get to see a young man that goes into the armed forces that challenges his superiors while dealing with his own personal problems when it comes to tracking down a mysterious woman that can’t be with him. Nothing that interesting happens in this movie in the way you care enough to see where things go.

Settings – The film takes us from the basic location which show the training camp, but it has our characters coming from the posh backgrounds.

Scene of the Movie – Hard to find one.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – That clock storyline.

Final Thoughts – This is a boring movie that the more I think about things, the more I get bored about what I am thinking about it.

Overall: Nothing interesting happening here.
