Townsend has a style which reminds me of Nick Hornby with the bittersweet humour and canny observations of the human condition and society.

This is an interesting book which raised lots of questions for me but didn't reach any conclusions. Why are we here? What it feels like to be taken for granted. How we often settle for second-best in life.

There is a lot of sadness in the characters of this book, centring around the melancholy of Eva. Yet Townsend peppers her book with plenty of chuckles to keep the book enjoyable and compelling

Greed Is Good

Wall Street- is a good drama thriller. It has a good cast and director.

The plot: On the Wall Street of the 1980s, Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) is a stockbroker full of ambition, doing whatever he can to make his way to the top. Admiring the power of the unsparing corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), Fox entices Gekko into mentoring him by providing insider trading. As Fox becomes embroiled in greed and underhanded schemes, his decisions eventually threaten the livelihood of his scrupulous father (Martin Sheen). Faced with this dilemma, Fox questions his loyalties.

I do recordmend watching it.

I was expecting scary; biting-my-nails, holding-my-breath, chewing-my-lip scary. Instead, I got something that makes me feel like I need to see a therapist. I didn't completely love this book, as dazed, confused, and freaked out as it's left me. However, I did enjoy the suspense of it, the "what's going to happen next" and the "how could this possibly escalate" feeling. Obviously no one enjoys reading about such topics, but Ketchum kept me hooked with those questions, therefore I was unable to stop. Now, if only I could bleach my brain...
