"It's really good. It's probably not suited for radio talk show hosts because you're supposed to get pretty fired up. But for me, it, I guess it hit me at the right time, and it was very relevant at that point in my life. I kind of read it once a year just to reflect and get perspective, and it's served me pretty well."

"Any collection of John Cheever’s short stories. I’m not a big fan of much of what passes itself off as literary fiction, finding it to be insipid, self-indulgent, plotless, and pointless. However, Cheever could write about everyday life and make it fascinating. His psychological insights are deft, never heavy-handed, and sometimes, as in his story “The Enormous Radio,” he veers into some really strange territory."

Studs Terkel | 1972 | Philosophy, Psychology & Social Sciences

"Studs Terkel was a radio host in Chicago who also wrote fantastic oral histories about 20th century America by interviewing regular people about their lives. He covered the Great Depression in Hard Times; World War II in The Good War; and, in this book, what people’s jobs mean to them. His books are invaluable time capsules of how Americans in previous generations spoke and thought about themselves."

"I went through it from cover to cover like a hurricane, totally focused on every word, and the book sang out to me like the radio. Guthrie writes like the whirlwind and you get tripped out on the sound of the words along. Pick up the book anywhere, turn to any page and he hits the ground running. ‘Bound for Glory’ is a hell of a book."

Rolling Stone's 395th greatest album of all time (433rd in the 2020 list)
Absolutely phenomenal album, featuring the truly epic All My Friends (or Dancing with Dave as fans of Elis James and John Robins might refer to it). Top notch anthemic dance/indie, at times being reminiscent of Radio 4 and The Rapture. Oh, and apparently they aren't British, they are North American.
